One last request: enable Linux support

Wishful thinking at this point, but if any dev sees this, please allow Steam Deck/Linux users to play Destiny 2 in the final update on June 9th! o7

  • Unless it's in the June update already it won't happen. After the updates it's a few bug fixes and server maintenance to keep things on.

    • Please Bungie. I have 2k hours in the game. This game is how I've met so many important people in my life, including 2 of my best friends in the world. I've known one for over an entire third of my life by this point. Not too long after TFS, I switched to Linux because of the nonsense Microsoft was doing to Windows, which came with the consequence of not being able to play Destiny 2, but I wasn't too interested after TFS. But it saddened me to see the game ending, it was such an important game in my life. I'd really like to be able to play with my best friends again for the final Moments of Triumph and all the changes coming on June 9th. I'm not asking for a Linux port. I'm not asking you to fix every bug that turns up. But please, just have the anti-cheat allow Linux via Proton. Proton isn't perfect, but it's often good enough. And the Linux community will find ways to make it more compatible if possible. Even if the idea that enabling Linux support would bring in a lot of cheaters was true, which it isn't, so what? The game is ending, it's not going to tank sales, that's already going to happen. If you're worried about the game being imperfect, 1. We're Linux users running a compatibility layer, we know it's not really your fault, and 2: Again, not really going to impact sales. It's the final update, there are more Linux users and Linux gamers than ever, please let us rejoin our friends. It'd also be pretty good PR in my opinion. There's not really any downsides and the upside is you have more players who may even spend money on Silver. And I'd be eternally grateful.

    • I think Bungie is more likely to buff Khepris horn than give Linux support
