I said this a long time ago and it has come to pass that destiny gameplay loop would get stale and it’s not out of the idea that there isn’t great content it’s out of the fact that the gameplay loop for fun is boring and has always been a broken dynamic…
I’ve said it multiple times and I’ll say it again games like destiny the whole idea of a theme park sucks butt hole. Now I’ll go into a very deep and long explanation. I’m going to compare destiny to two other games.
The first game is a game that featured elements of ground and aerial combat in a unique package I think should have been a key element in the release of destiny 2 especially when it came to the forsaken. And that game is the original Halo.
The original halo had all the elements needed to make a great campaign game not pulling from that repertoire is one of the greatest failing elements of Destiny. Why? You may ask look at halo v and its feature warzones it put together up to 16 players facing off against the toughest off halo enemies using everything in the halo arsenal from warthogs to banshee’s.
The second game I’m going to use is elite dangerous… now hear me out elite when it dropped odyssey made me realize something about the way bungie was trying to develop destiny. instead of always reusing whole areas they could have really gave us theme park planetoids that have seasonal content based on region.
This would have made passed seasonal content revisitable without needing to map swap every other season. The other thing is also traveling the unique space travel mechanic of elite dangerous is interesting enough that you could drop out of FTL travel to a combat zone. So that would have added a new element to destiny pass iterations didn’t have, solidifying destiny as an actual space game…
They could have done space in multiple forms that would have been acceptable the Star Wars jump to lightspeed way or the way it’s done in jump ship mixed with everspace 2… with it being a white box area that’s revisitable… something decent… like how starfield tried to be
These are the type of gameplay loops that keep players playing because the interactions wouldn’t be forced it be genuine happen to save a random player and make friends… etc etc
