5 RepliesIt’s not quite dead yet, but it definitely doesn’t look good… My best guess: - Marathon has 2 seasons worth of content likely already made. These will continue as scheduled. - Marathon will get a larger overhaul sometime later this year as a pseudo-expansion designed to drive additional engagement - D2’s update in June will likely be the last one before D2 enters “maintenance mode” similar to Age of Triumph. The goal being to keep pushing low effort updates using as few resources as possible once the big update is released. > worst case scenario, no updates occur following entering maintenance > best case scenario, existing content continue to be updated (weapon reprises, lootpool refreshes using existing gear, Holiday events continue albeit with no new activities or gear outside of reprises, and Occasional new Eververse gear. - At the end of the year, Sony will make a decision depending on how well Marathon is doing. Either: > Marathon makes a comeback, gains a sustainable player base and continues to gain investment. > Marathon doesn’t make a comeback, Sony puts it in maintenance mode, and Sony takes direct control of existing assets. This likely means a Destiny 3 begins development under a new/remade studio. Basically, the adjustment means Bungie’s burning through its goodwill with Sony. If Bungie runs out, then all its negotiations (like with independence) disappears. Bungie’s team will likely be remade from the ground up as all that will be valuable to them is the name and the IPs.

Same. I love the off topic forums for being a goofy place for people to hang out.
