Destiny 2 Ideas - New Market

Good afternoon, Guardians! Today I wanted to share another improvement idea for Destiny 2, focused on something that, personally, I've never been able to fully feel in the game, even after hundreds of hours played: 👉 a real connection with the Last City — in a human sense. ❓- The problem: Lack of connection with the Last City Since I started Destiny 2, I've always had the feeling that the Last City is only important in theory, but not in the player experience. Maybe that's it: A narrative choice, or a consequence of our Guardian being a true Godslayer, always involved in cosmic threats. Even so, I never managed to create an organic connection with the city or its inhabitants. 📌 Minimal interaction with the people who live there. 📌 Lack of interaction with "ordinary" NPCs. 📌 Absence of that real fear of losing someone. In Final Shape, for example, I didn't feel the same emotional impact we felt with the loss of Cayde-6, precisely because that bond with other characters wasn't built. 💡- The idea: to bring the Last City to life through gameplay With that in mind, I had an idea that could bring more identity, more RPG elements, and more emotional connection, without abandoning the gameplay: 1. Last City Market + its own NPCs Bring back the Last City market (like the one that appears in Episode: Revenant), functioning as a second trading hub. We would access it via the Tower, in that elevator that leads to Zavala's office; now it would have a function: you could choose to go to the center of the Last City (like a loadscreen). There, we would have city NPCs selling: Past weapons and armor (that came from the Vanguard loot pool) such as: -MINT RETROGRADE -DISASTER CORPS (Set) -BUSHIDO (Set) -AHAB CHAR 💱 - How would trading work? These NPCs would sell equipment using planets resources, for example: 100x Twilight Light Fragment 50x Spinmetal 1000x Glimmer This gives value to destination materials and creates a real reason to explore the system again. 🎮 - 2. Simple but meaningful quests To bring a stronger RPG feel, these NPCs would also offer simple but narratively interesting quests, such as: Helping rescue the daughter of an Eliksni who fled the city Recovering stolen goods from a merchant Helping residents of the Last City in everyday situations 🔹 Quick quests, scattered across the planets 🔹 Rewards in weapons, armor, and cosmetics 🔹 Nothing exaggerated, but with human stories ❤️ - Personality, dialogue, and emotional connection The main point here is to give these NPCs personality. Unique dialogues. Small scenes when accepting missions. Reactions as you progress and help the city. This creates the connection that is currently lacking between players and the people who live in the Last City. With this, there could also be exclusive rewards: Shaders Emblems Ships Unique cosmetic items from these NPCs ⭐ - 3 NPC Reputation System To further enhance the experience: Each NPC would have a reputation system The higher the reputation: Better rewards Reduced resource cost Chance to receive 2 weapons instead of 1 Chance, in a Vanguard mission, Lost Sectors, and even open-world activities, to be contacted via radio by the NPC to collect something they want in the region - Example: "Guardian, there's a supply of mine dropped near you, if you recover it, I'll give you a discount on your next set!" This encourages the player to build relationships, not just farm loot. 🏭 - Foundry Missions (Häkke, Suros, Omolon, etc.) Here comes another layer of gameplay that I, personally, miss. In the past, Destiny had legendary weapon skins, something simple but very memorable. I thought of a more elegant way to bring that back. How would it work? Companies would have offices in the Last City (near the merchants). You would take specific contracts from each manufacturer. Example: Week 1 – Häkke Focus on shotguns. Missions to eliminate enemies with shotguns. Upon completion: you earn the company's weekly weapon. After completing several contracts: Unlocks a special contract. This contract directly involves the weapon. Reward: an exclusive weapon skin of the week. 🎨 - Real Skins (not just recolors) When I talk about skins, I'm not talking about those simple ones from the past, where the Vanguard gave skins based on Crucible, Gambit, and Vanguard. I'm talking about: Changes to the crosshairs New visual accessories More robust design (Zero Revision style) This would: Revitalize old weapons Reduce the need to craft new weapons all the time Encourage the use of modernized classic loot (Note: That it would only be a visual change, with no alteration to the advantages.) I think with this: 👉 New weapons are still good 👉 But revitalized old weapons would be equally relevant 👉 An event idea - Arms Week Foundries (e.g., Omolon) hold a "Prototype Fair" in the market, offering weapons with experimental perks that only last that week. I believe this would be a more interesting way to integrate the weapons events we already have, more organically. Important: 🔧 This doesn't diminish the relevance of Banshee-44, which would remain the general focus for weapons (which could include other missions for weapon skins or weapons with unique perks, perhaps). I believe this system would bring: - A sense of belonging to the Last City - More RPG elements (without forcing the player) - More emotional connection - More gameplay variety - More value for older contente 💬- So, what do you think of this idea of focusing on equipment + connecting to the Last City? In the future, I plan to bring some ideas for a Guardian's Home that could integrate with this concept, but do you think the idea is cool? Do you have any suggestions or improvements?
