Please and I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT GIVE US A STORY THAT REVOLVES AROUND THE SUBCLASS. Beyond Light and Lightfall are weak stories imo because the constant Stasis/Strand interactions. Please BHQ (in mufasas voice) “remember who you are” why was The Taken King good? Because the story was about something else with 1 singular mission to earn your new subclass. Why was forsaken good? Because there was a story that didn’t focus on a subclass but the dlc did offer one. Why was Witch Queen good, because the story didn’t focus on our updated subclass but the dlc updated them….prismatic is a tricky one…I personally don’t enjoy prismatic, but the story in TFS did force us to use it. You know what that doesn’t feel like….An RPG where I the player have agency of my choices. Now I can see a world where they gut the subclasses and dump everything into Prismatic but I can go full Sun God, Mr. Freeze etc etc. Again my main point here is the story based subclasses take away agency because that’s more linear like platform games God of War is an immediate example. And more to the point takes away from the depth of Character building or loss from a character death that a subclass takes all the lime light. Im not saying you can’t have a mission or two.
