Destiny 2 Ideas - Tier Coin System

Good afternoon, Guardians! Another day, another improvement idea for Destiny 2. With the arrival of Edge of Fate and the new Tier system, many weapons we already had ended up stuck in the old system — to be honest, it's almost like Sunset 2.0. Today, Tier V weapons are clearly superior to the old ones. Bungie itself recognizes this and has already confirmed that it is working on ways to upgrade Adept weapons and evolve the Tier of weapons (Tier I → Tier V). Still, I had an idea that I would like to share with you. 💠- Tier Coin System The proposal is to create a complementary progression system based on Tier coins, obtained in activities such as Vanguard, Dungeons, and Raids. These coins would allow upgrading old weapons, bringing them into the current Tier system without breaking the farm for new weapons. 🔹 How would it work? White Coin – Tier Bringer Used to bring old, untiered weapons into the current system. Old weapons would gain a slot similar to Mementos, where this coin would be consumed. Using the coin would make the weapon Tier I. (This can be considered a complete reforging, transforming the old weapon into a new instance of the current system, preserving only the kill counter, perks, barrels, and ammunition). Bronze Coin – Tier II Improves the weapon's two main perks. Silver Coin – Tier III Adds two more perks per column, already upgraded. Perks would be random. Gold Coin – Tier IV Improves Barrel, Magazine, and Mods. Diamond Coin – Tier V Fully maxed weapon. Old weapons would gain a new Origin Trait, consistent with their type: It could be something in the style of Tex Mechanic or even a Dungeon Trait or something elaborated by Bungie. 🎯 - Why would this be interesting? With the changes to Dungeon loot in the next DLC, the system would allow: Maintaining your original roll, but with updated perks; Or seeking the new versions of the weapons directly from the loot pool. I, for example, still prefer older versions of some weapons — like The Recluse, where I own both the pre-Sunset version and the Into the Light version. With this, each player chooses: Upgrade their old weapons passively, just by playing; Or continue farming the new versions normally. 💰 - Suggested Costs for Tier Upgrades These upgrades would require resources, but without a predatory grind: Tier Bringer Coin 1000 Lumen 1 Enhancement Core 1 Coin Tier II Coin 2000 Lumen 5 Enhancement Cores 5 Coins Tier III Coin 3000 Lumen 10 Enhancement Cores 10 Coins Tier IV Coin 4000 Lumen 20 Enhancement Cores 20 Coins Tier V Coin 5000 Lumen 30 Enhancement Cores 30 Coins These values are just a guideline, they function more as a standard idea. Perhaps the most realistic method would be an evolution similar to craftable weapons, using...  Prisms, ascending alloys, and other materials. 📍- Where would these coins drop? The idea is that the higher the difficulty, the higher the Tier and the amount of coins: 🔸- Basic Activities Solo Ops / Vanguard / Crucible / Gambit Coin Drops – Tier Bringer and Tier II Coins Tier III Coin with a rare chance Quantity increases with difficulty 🔸- 6-Player Activities Arena / Ranked Crucible / Iron Banner Common drops of Tier II and III Coins Rare Tier IV Coin 🔸- High-Level Content Exotic Quests / Spiral / Rush / Trials of Osiris / Normal Dungeons Common drops of Tier III and IV Coins Rare Tier V Coin In the case of Osiris, reaching the perfect Lighthouse would guarantee Tier V Coins, with the quantity determined by fair RNG 🔸- Endgame GM / Master Dungeons / Normal and Master Raids Drops  Abundant Coin Tier IV and V. The higher the difficulty, the greater the reward. I can't define exact amounts, as factors such as: ⏱️- Activity time 🪦- Player deaths 💀- Kills or performance could influence the final amount of coins. Even so, I believe this system: - Would make old weapons useful again; - It wouldn't break the farming for new weapons; - It would encourage the player to just play the content, without artificial pressure. I know it's complex — very old weapons sometimes break when the programming is messed with — but the question remains: Do you think this system would be welcome in Destiny 2? I really want to hear your opinion!
