  • Hello there, Thank you for reaching out. Error STINGRAY means Destiny can’t see you as properly signed into your platform account, or your platform’s online services are having problems. 1. First, rule out a platform / server issue Check your platform’s status page: Xbox: https://support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status PlayStation: https://status.playstation.com Steam: https://steamstat.us If there’s any ongoing outage/maintenance, you’ll just have to wait it out. STINGRAY spikes during those times and isn’t fixable client-side. If everything shows green and you still get STINGRAY, move to the platform-specific fixes. 2. If you play on Xbox console Try this exact sequence (many STINGRAY reports are Xbox-side and this has helped others): Fully power-cycle the console: Hold the power button until it shuts off. Unplug for 30–60 seconds. Plug back in and boot. Clear Persistent Storage: Settings → Devices & connections → Blu-ray → Persistent storage → Clear Persistent Storage. Optional but sometimes helps: Settings → Network → Advanced settings → Alternate MAC address → Clear, then restart. Then launch Destiny 2 again and try signing in. 3. If you play on PC via Xbox app / Microsoft Store There’s a known pattern where STINGRAY is tied to the Xbox app/account state (Game Pass or Xbox Live auth), even after sub issues are fixed. Do this: Update the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store. In the Xbox app: Sign out of your Xbox/Microsoft account. Reboot your PC. Open Xbox app and sign back in. Launch Destiny 2 from the Xbox app and try again. Players stuck in STINGRAY on PC have reported this sequence resolving it when nothing else did. Also double-check: Your Game Pass / Gold / Core (if required on your platform) is active and the account you’re signed into in Destiny matches the one with the license. 4. If you play on Steam / Epic / PS You’ve likely already: Signed out and back into Steam/PSN/Epic. Fully rebooted your PC/console and router. Extra things to try: On PC, if you also have Xbox app/Game Pass installed, sign out of that and back in (it can interfere with auth in some setups). Confirm your system clock/time zone is set automatically—bad time sync can sometimes break auth tokens.
