You expect them to be able to make a whole new game from an IP that they can't even release used content for without fixing the bugs?
BWAHAHHAHAHAA!
Well, good luck with that!

D3 is the current game peeps. They overhauled the engine/put the game onto a whole new engine during Beyond Light and had since completely overhauled how all the subclasses work to a 3.0 version for each. They don’t need to make an “official” D3 when it already exists minus the name change. Just enjoy what it is now or stop playing and play something else.

Edited by Golden: 2/1/2026 6:08:05 AMDestiny 3 would be like 25% new game (reskins of old locations) and like 75% of it being D1 and D2 content being drip fed into the game.

Destiny 2 does not exist anymore . I bought destiny 2 in 2019 or 2018 , don't remember and all the dlc's that were available back then . Everything is gone and replaced with destiny 3 content and people don't even wanna play that , let alone a new destiny game wich will be destiny 4 if you are still keeping track .. I don't get it why people can go back to destiny 1 but not to destiny 2 . Everything is still there in destiny 1 , nothing got replaced by destiny 2 content cause they simply made destiny 2 and left destiny 1 as it was . What a bunch of idiots . Just make multiple destiny games you bungie morons ..

10 RepliesEdited by glitchHiker: 2/2/2026 12:44:08 PMAnyone asking for D3 clearly hasn't really thought it through beyond "der something new and shiny der." D3 just doesn't make sense from every angle imaginable. At best it would just be more of the exact same unless they break canon or do a full reboot; at worst we'll lose our weapons/armor/exotics etc for a new game with significantly less content and loot. How would that be good for the players? What is the point of making D3 beyond the "new and shiny" mentality? There is none. For all intents and purposes EoF was exactly what D3 would've looked like only D3 would've had better graphics, that's the absolute best case scenario too. We still kept all our loot/builds but it was a whole new game essentially, though on a much smaller budget and with less than a shell of what Bungie used to be (both talent-wise and staff-wise). If all these D3 goons got their way D3 would've been EoF but without our builds/loot, that's just the reality of the current Bungie situation. There's no good best case scenario here, even if Bungie was capable of making a competent D3, it would still be significantly worse than D2 in every single way except graphics. Period. Within a few months both D3 and D2 would be dead. This isn't anywhere near the same situation as the transition from D1-D2 and EoF Bungie is nowhere near the same quality as pre-D2 bungie. The only thing that would work is transferring everything over to D3 - vaults/builds/everything - at that point why not just add what would be in D3 to D2 and just update the graphics or overhaul the engine entirely? Either way it would be a massive and expensive investment, and we all know how miniscule Destiny's current budget is!

I know right

15 RepliesYou realize there is a skeleton crew keeping the lights on in D2 while the majority are working on Marathon And a D3 could be made on a modern game engine that's not famously a pain to work with like the Tiger engine What is now doesn't have to be what is the future

Destiny 3............. HAH, good one!

1 ReplyEdited by Wolves: 2/3/2026 1:51:27 AMDestiny 3? Look at the state of Destiny 2, why would people think a D3 would be better?

I signed in today for the first time this week and you get the arms week pop up with zero info on how to do anything. Off to YouTube.

I think D3 works only if Bungie is not included.

2 RepliesBungie isn’t making D3. Sony handed Project Payback to an internal developer who actually knows what they’re doing.

D3 would work!
If Bungie wasn’t the one creating it
-
Do i expect them to? Hell no. But what are they gonna do work through the crippling tech debt to actually fix d2? Also no. I at least think d3 has a chance or at least might be interesting, or even maybe implements modern systems that are just barely tacked on and functional now

Edited by eeriearcade: 1/30/2026 6:24:56 PMD3 would only happen if Sony wanted to heavily invest in the future of Destiny. So it would be an opportunity for greater quantity and greater quality than we are currently getting. It’s also an opportunity to break free from all the D2 baggage and start afresh. I don’t think anyone’s asking for a D3 that replicates Destiny’s current budget and output - that wouldn’t make any sense.
