Solo op, easy enough right, 3 bonus drops, cool.
57 champions, takes about 50 mins, do I run anti barrier hand cannon, oh they regen before I can reload the only handcannon I have but I've nothing else & they're grims so are flying around like Pegasus up there & hiding to regen whilst I'm trying to reload & being surrounded by taken phalanx all shielding each other making themselves immune. It's stasis so doesn't proc the unstoppable kinetic perk so gotta run double primary & use polaris for unstoppable. I could use the sword but then how do I kill the tormentors & subjagators? Oh then the timer runs out so my revives disappear but I've nesrly finished right? Nope I'm only 15 mins in & only cleared 3 areas, done 3 jump puzzles backwards & dunked 19 orbs & captured a plate that had a 7 min timer , killed 47 champions & not seen 1 ammo crate anywhere. At least I've 15 revives left, oh wait, they've took them so now I'm on 0. Another 10 mins later I get to the boss, kill another 11 champions for 0 revives, get the boss to 10% then he travels further than any tornentor has ever jumped & suppresses me 200yds backwards into a hole & I get sent to orbit.
It felt like an exotic mission & it's basically a story mission & exotic mission run backwards, combined. It's got every irritating aspect of destiny combined, it's way too long, way overturned, & filled with nonsense to make up for lack of quality or creativity.
This is baseline content btw, GM, given they start new accs at 300 & everything levels you to 400 so 400 is the new softcap. No wonder no one sticks around.

2 RepliesThe root issue is that D2 is not a looter/shooter anymore. It's a looter/abilities game now, hence the addition of all the annoyances you mention. The reason is obvious. This game now requires more investment from the players while greatly reducing the investment by Bungie. Abilities, mechanics, puzzles and bullet sponges facilitate the recycling of existing content. Requires much less investment in the product. As Pete said "It's just business". Being the only game I play, I have tried to adapt and like it but I play less all the time for the reasons you have listed. Worse yet, there is no chance they will invest the resources required to create new destinations so this hollow shell of what D2 used to be is all we will ever see from now on. The same holds true for a D3.
