Losing access to DLCs

I have played Destiny 2 for a while on Xbox and have almost every DLC, most importantly Lightfall. I recently switched from Xbox to PC Steam, and when I set up the crossplay, on the Steam version of the game I had access all DLCs even though I did not purchase anything on Steam, most importantly I had access to the Strand subclass. This was for several months, I could use Strand and other things. Then recently I got home from Uni and decided to purchase Renegades, thinking that nothing would change and I would still have all my DLCs from Xbox as it was, but I’d have my subclass Strand, so I bought Renegades on Steam. I am having a fun time and play a couple hours of the campaign, playing with the Strand subclass equipped, but eventually end up going to bed. The very next day, I wake up and am excited to play rest of the Renegades, I get on and start the next mission, I load in and realize that I’m now playing the Arc subclass, this was weird because I never switched it. I open my character and see it says that I don’t have access to the Strand subclass and it takes me to purchase Lightfall on Steam. I check my Steam and see that Destiny 2 had a very small update it was either 10.22Mb or 100.22Mb. But now I no longer have access to my DLCs or my subclass. I understand that according to Bungie’s website that crossplay does not share the DLCs across platforms, but it did for a couple months, and it did after I bought the new DLC; I would have never purchased Renegades on Steam if I had known that I wouldn’t have my DLCs. Now I can’t get a refund on Steam, and I’m unlikely to finish the campaign because I cannot play with my builds, and I’m not spending another $40 for 1/2 a DLC. Am I wrong to say that Bungie tricked me?

There’s a steam sale on, should be cheaper now. If it’s still expensive check cdkeys.com (well it’s now loaded.com). You can obviously choose not to, and I can definitely see why. But it’s unlikely Bungie will ‘give’ it back when you seem to acknowledge that you shouldn’t have had it in the first place.
