I love the Dawning, but I am so over baking cookies
How long have we had this asinine activity, which really is just sprinkles on currently exististing activities
No Doubt, it's been the only activity for the last 6 years(don't hold me to that time), because it's just copy and paste, so they don't have to spend any resources on a free event
Festival finally got a fun activity, hoard mode in a spooky decorated sorrows harbor
Why not a hoard mode on Europa, with Blizzards and the frostbite mechanic and campfires, and snowballs and a giant snowman has the final boss
Or just port SRL from D1,better than fing cookies

Cookie baking this year is paying off. I've gotten the new rocket pulse and another good sidearm. Others have gotten good weapons and the sword master gear. Bake away guardians, bake away!!!!!!!

Last time I liked the dawning was year 3 of Destiny 1. Tho, that time in year 2 of Destiny 1 where they brought back thunderlord was kinda cool too. Cosmodrome was lore accurate for that mission.

3 RepliesDawning, this is the only event where players could farm Bright Dust. They used to. Now they can't. Bungie has killed the holiday.

Snowball fight is just torch cannons reskinned, but worse, because the slow effect gives the winning team an even greater advantage, leading to blowout after blowout. I just played 3 matches and am not sure I can force myself to play enough to rank up 30 times. I'm thinking, nope. Just going to go back to comp for now. EDIT: I will say the one thing I like about Dawning is the music. I love that little song they play in the Tower every year.

It definitely deserves an rework. Dawning was always very boring. The loot is pretty lame this time, too. Stasis Wave Frame... meh Arc Precision Sidearm... meh Void Burst LF... we had it last year... and outside of "new gear" bullshit it's the same weapon.

Huge miss to not add special character emblems as drops for the characters that havent already had them - which is the majority. It was something cool to grind for. The current weapon pool alone doesnt make me want to play it - it's a personal preference but does anything there really stick out.

Srl on sleds, all downhill would be fun. With sled upgrade abilities being a possible reward. For hunters, a barrage of knives that circle you and if you get near another player, it damages their sled and slows them down. Or golden gun shots that shoot out from the back of your sled that boosts you forward and damages players directly behind you. For titan, a mini bubble that makes you immune ..adds weight and makes you temporarily go faster....or let's you place stasis crystals that slow other racers or you can use them as ramps to launch yourself into the air. For warlocks, a well that makes you immune and gives your sled more boosts...or tickle fingers surround your sled and lift you up when you hit jump...leaving slowing electricity on the ground from point of lift off. Just some off the dome ideas.

2 RepliesWell, I still like it after all these years. One of the easiest and relaxing events. And throwing snowballs has its own charm. Having said that I still don't like after all these years that some ingredients seem to be totally RNG. You go into a lost sector, clear everything and get no enemy type ingredients? Multi kill super or melee and yet no ingredients? Yes, in the end I always get/got everything including a gilded baking title but it's just such a lame technique by Bungie to deliberately lengthening the grind process. Other than that I like it.

if you're tired of cookies, then you don't like the dawning. cookies [i]are[/i] the dawning, and the dawning is cookies. it's always been cookies. it's mindboggling how people miss the point completely lol

The cookies should stay. It's an Event with a recognizable tradition that's not consumed by The Portal. Sorry, but Solstice was not Solstice; the EAZ is part of that tradition. And the only reason it was successful this year because it dropped higher Tier Loot in a system that players didn't realize would eventually become a horrible grind. Guardian Games was terrible for the Warlocks who didn't win one damn day. Festival Of The Lost was good but the Haunted Sectors was also a good activity that should accompany the new Haunted Altars Of Sorrow. The Dawning should have a specific activity attached to it, like the ones you mentioned. Because there are no more Seasons/Episodes, The Events should be strengthened. We are not getting Into The Light activities as promised but we already have four events that could do more.

It’s preferable to the horrible modifiers, no revives, short timer, -100 delta activity they’d probably throw in there instead. Yeah, I’d rather just bake some cookies. -

I think the Dawning is fairly cozy and shouldn't be too extreme, compared to the rest of events in Destiny. I would love to see SRL return and I think Bungie has hinted at it possibly returning, but we shall see. I honestly don't expect much from the Dawning, yet I always enjoy baking cookies for everyone...you kind of just play the game and get additional rewards while playing. I do like the snowball mode, but I would have liked a PvE version of it, since I already encounter some dude sweating on Titan doing spins and perfecting their throws. [i]This also comes from someone who's favorite event (Crimson Days) was removed from the game and had a cooler theme and game mode associated with it.[/i] -
Stopped baking after I grinded my behind during the very first event. I am not going to touch my 777 cookie count.
