...the commendations (best dressed, thoughtful, fun etc...) at the end of team activities?
I always give them, but mostly people just exit as soon as the activity is done.
It seems like a complete waste of time to me. It doesn't mean anything and doesn't give you anything tangible, so in reality what's the point of it?
I'd just get rid of it. It's utilising code and space for something genuinely pointless.

I don't bother to commendate it's a pointless system but nothing to be gained in removing it or keeping it.

The problem was making them a spammy collectible - another thing to grind and “make number go up”. They quickly became meaningless because they were being tossed around like confetti. I’d prefer Bungie to focus on the social aspect of commendations - limit the number we can give out (to maybe 7 a week) and remove any collection/record of them. We’d have to think more carefully about who we gave them out to and it’d be rare to receive one. I think they’d become a more meaningful interaction.

No, it should not be removed. In no game does the commendation system hold any worth, but it’s still nice to be commended every now and again. It doesn’t harm the game in any way, so why remove it?

It’s a pointless system. Because I’ve seen some posts where people were upset about not getting any, I give random ‘awards’ just to try and make sure that everyone gets one.
