Character deletion while account inactive
I logged into the D2 Bungie app and noticed after not playing since Final Shape, all 3 of my characters were deleted and a new Titan was created. The account has been inactive since about October 2024 and I wanted to maybe login to walk down memory lane. Either I got hacked and didn't know (never shared my login for Destiny 2) or something on Bungie's back end wiped my account.
All triumphs, achievements, silver, glimmer, and vault are still there but characters I put thousands of hours into, did Day 1's, lowmans, solo flawless dungeon.... gone.
I feel nothing but anger and sadness

You having a character is how people are able to delete all 3 of someones characters as an account must always have at least 1 character after one has been created on the account. Usually when someone is hacked/a recovery goes wrong/ex-friend wiping their account etc the process is: Sign into account -> delete 2 of their 3 characters -> wipe their vault (sometimes doesn't happen) -> create a new character -> delete the last of the 3 characters they had -> leave the newly created one. Bungie will not restore the characters.
