Hello,
I am a long-time, active Destiny 2 player and a faithful supporter of your content, spending over $100 annually to access expansions and seasonal content across my platforms.
I primarily play Destiny 2 on Xbox (my main platform) and PC. I recently purchased a ROG Ally handheld gaming PC specifically for playing on the go.
I installed Destiny 2 on the ROG Ally via the Xbox App (PC version), expecting my owned content to be fully accessible, as I was under the impression that the ROG Ally leverages the PC ecosystem and that content purchased through the Microsoft Store/Xbox ecosystem would follow.
The Problem:
Upon logging in on the ROG Ally, I discovered that all of my expansion content (which I own on Xbox) is missing. I already understand the need to purchase content again to play on a separate ecosystem like Steam (PC), but having to purchase content a third time to play on a device using the Xbox/Microsoft PC App feels like a serious error in content entitlement or delivery.
I specifically chose the ROG Ally, believing that this scenario—where my Xbox entitlements should carry over to the Windows PC version running via the Xbox App—would be seamless. I was previously advised that my Xbox content would be playable.
Could you please clarify the expected behavior for Destiny 2 content entitlement when using an Xbox purchase on a Windows handheld (ROG Ally) running the game through the Xbox App? Is there a known issue with cross-platform entitlement or licensing on this specific setup, or is this intended functionality?
Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
A dedicated Guardian
Could you please clarify the expected behavior for Destiny 2 content entitlement when using an Xbox purchase on a Windows handheld (ROG Ally) running the game through the Xbox App?
Xbox (console) licenses are treated separately from the Xbox App (for PC)/Windows store as Destiny 2 is not part of the PlayAnywhere program and as such they're treated as completely separate platforms. If you owned the expansions on Xbox (console) but not Xbox App (for PC) then its working correctly when it tells you that you don't own them. If you did buy the expansions on the Xbox App (for PC) then you would seek assistance from Microsoft if restoring licenses did not work. If you believe it should be changed, then you would need to post over in #FeedbackD2 but given that its an opt in program and Bungie are owned wholly by Sony now - the likelihood of Sony letting Bungie do it is near absolute 0.
