Go back to connection based matchmaking in casual pvp!

At this point, we clearly have enough data to show that bungee is incapable of skill base matchmaking. Almost every game I go into is a mercy. Just go back to skill base matchmaking so everyone at least has a decent chance of killing their opponents. When you combine skill based matchmaking with bad connections, it’s almost impossible to kill anyone. Nobody asked for skill based matchmaking. If you wanna do it for competitive and trials, that is fine, but sixes should always be connection based!

  • They need to get the population up for any matchmaking to matter. Imo no matter what they do now it won't be satisfactory.

    • First thing they need to do is adding proper anti-cheat. Without that matchmaking, new maps, new modes don’t matter because it will still be bad.

      • Pretty sure we're already using that, just the population has shrunk so much there are proportionally more tryhards and cheaters than there were in Heresy or before that. Not to mention this game's MM algorithm will try to push for everyone to have roughly a 50% win rate.

        • This might sound sad but if I join a match and it's the end of the match win or loss it's a completed match... rewards...if I join a match and it's a Mercy match that's just a faster match... rewards...The faster I get my matches the faster I can get out of the crucible.... But I could care less about the stats I'm not sad like that... so as long as I'm getting something out of it I could care less who wins... But also having said that having a competitive slice of PVP when I'm in the mood for it is nice but also having a casual place for PVP when I'm in the mood for it is also nice

        • No. They enable SBMM and those who like to smash low skill players and can't stand competition begin to protest. Because they don't like fair fight and want easy win. They enable CBMM and biggest part of player base begin to suffer from beating by players from middle and top pool. SBMM is better, because everyone have fair competition on their skill level. If they become better, they dragged in other pool with higher K/D rating matching they current K/D rating.

          • We had that before and it sucked -blam!-. Never balanced lobbies cause all the high kd players are always in same team and low kd in the other. I'm not elite and fairly can hold my own, but being steamrolled in matches with un balanced teams is no Bueno. Cause of it I did not touch pvp for a long time, and I'm happy that sbmm is back, cause me personally I find that crucible is actually fun again. It's bungie that needs to fix their servers and bugs, cause its not the matchmaking that's the issue, but that is my 2 cents about it, and no disrespect ment with this.

              It doesn't matter what connection is used, cbmm means cheaters get more kills, because of less lag, sbmm means cheaters will be able to join casual players anyway, for easy kills. Within 30 secs 1 guy got 16 kills and was on a 16 kill streak, no one on my team had got a single kill, or did any damage lol. PvP is BS, make it were PvP players have to pay to play, at least the cheaters would have to keep paying for the pvp, or remove it from Destiny 2.

            • What matchmaking could work better nowadays? SBMM is struggling because it pairs people from wherever in the world for fair matches. Meanwhile CBMM would struggle because of low population, it would most likely lead to dead matches or missing a few teammates. So realistically what MM would even be the best for the current state that the game is in?

              • Skill based is better for the casual play list. Higher skilled players like it because they dont have to try as hard but lower skilled players just get destroyed.

                • Why not good way to empty the remaining few from the dead Playlist. After a couple weeks of fun you will be back to seeing the same few names so sure have at it.

                • I agree, they should have at least 1 permanent mode outside of trials/competitive that is strict cbmm i.e. it does not let players in with out-of-band connections after a set wait time. Once they have populated the lobby it can then be balanced using some form of skill/combat stat e.g. "seasonal kda" or "seasonal opponents defeated" so that all the best players aren't on the same team.
