Nothing quite as motivating as being a solo player, working to get a Salt Mines score that will get you the helm, getting over 100 points, then to log in the next day and show 85 points because the "Averages" went up. Who designed this event? Are we TRYING to chase people away from the game? Feels bad man. Its bad enough I resigned myself to NOT getting the 310 point reward because I don't have anyone to run the hard stuff with hard modifiers on and soloing them like that is just painful, but to let me get over 100, then take it away... in what world did you all think that would be fun/enjoyable? Kicked right in the gut.

1 ReplyEdited by GPrime96: 11/16/2025 4:34:52 AMI managed to get my solo 1% position back in the Salt Mines but honestly, it’s way too much HVT RNG for a “Position”, even with the hotfix. Edit: And the goal post has increased. Looks like i’m not going to get that position back. Not going to waste my RNG luck on it anymore.

Damn lil bro grew up with participation awards lol

Happened to me too with my Zone Control Score.

Edited by gallp13: 11/16/2025 7:47:02 AMAverage solo player here. I share your annoyance. That said, the real issue isn’t malice from the devs but rather how design principles around human motivation, recognition, and reward have been applied. I suspect the end results are more about diabolical population characteristic the devs don’t control. Read on if interested. I’ve included a suggested way for you and me to get the helm at the end of this reply. The top 1% should have activities that are genuinely challenging, with elite rewards that recognise talent and effort. Elite activities normally use advancement systems with both upside and downside consequences. This approach often provides an appealing challenge with a nice bit of tension to help improve skills, and provide that sense of achievement. Arms Week’s averaging mechanic is a solid example. These events should be open to open to everyone, so players who want to learn and grow can give it a crack. For average players, who aren’t elite and don’t have the time to grind, it works best when there’s a clear, appealing reward structure. That is play mode X, get Y points toward your achievement. Then come back tomorrow, do a bit more, and your score edges up even if you play poorly, and climbs faster if you improve. Rewards should feel worthwhile recognising time invested and for achieving the objective, but still differentiated from elite rewards so both pools maintain their perceived value. These are not new ideas. They’re grounded in more than a century of motivational research, Herzberg, Maslow’s and more recently Deci & Ryan’s self-determination theory have all been applied in game design to better connect recognition, reward and motivation to help all players feel and sense of satisfaction and fun. Now if I know this I’d image the devs do too. After all they are professional game designers an player motivation and satisfaction is learnt early for these folks. I suspect player stratification and population numbers per stratum is this a big factor. Anyway, just my two cents. I’m feeling the same frustration you are. For what it’s worth, I’m planning to wait for the score lock, then use LFG for the non-matchmade events, together with match made activities, to grab two top-10% scores, which should be enough to nab the helm. Kind of cheapens things for the elite players, though. After all that effort, all they really have to show for their top 1% status is the First of the New emblem. Maybe that’s enough for them. Not sure.

Edited by Racket UK: 11/15/2025 11:34:44 PMYes event should be for everyone, once you get the score it should reward you that item, if your score goes down, it should only make it harder to get the next reward, that's why I'm not interested in the event, got 10 points in pvp, for a 10 kill streak, top of score board, and 29 kills got top 30%, today did 1 battlegrounds got 2.2 million score with power 550 got another 10 points lmfao, tomorrow I'll be down to 10 points, what a joke. Playing Diablo 4 instead.

I'm not chasing no high scores for a silly helmet with a bit of fire that doesn't go with the rest of my guardian's outfit, and the fact that my 2200000 high score in the salt mines only got me 20 points made it pretty clear it's not worth the effort.

1 ReplyI feel same way my man. Did a Salt mines after the changes to scoring last night and got up to 70 points then log in this afternoon and I'm right back to 30. What a dam joke if you ask me about this whole event. Scoring should have been a cumulative score system

4 RepliesGenuinely, I’m sorry the event screwed over people who aren’t gatekeepers. I’ve had a good guffaw at the “dedicated 1%ers” who claimed everyone with complaints about the scoring were entitled participation trophy players, only to complain about losing 40 points today. Still, it sucks to see non-sweats getting their hard work undone.

Nurf comjng next reset. Currently too hard for average players.

5 RepliesEdited by BetweenMyself: 11/16/2025 3:43:09 AMRun it again. The past 24 hours have seen a Live Update that removed the Invincibility Drones (and moved the score bonus they provided to the other Event Modifier) and removed the score penalty applied for using Boons, causing the average to go up because because it has been made easier to post high scores. In essence, the average suddenly jumped because the devs responded to player feedback and made positive changes to the Event. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

1 ReplySeriously, why are you complaining. Now your score is an 85? I call BS but I'll go along with it. The three other pve activities for a ranked score have matchmaking. All you need to do is get 10 points in 2 out of 3 of these activities and you'll be over 100. That's not even including the one pvp mode.

It's definitely the ultimate sweat fest par excellence giving both the pro players and the particularly dedicated/skilled the chance to show average Joe the big middle finger. How dare we all got "free" top tier loot which should be restricted to the very best players only. At least here we can be shown where our place is. I do not envy their achievements, the opposite. I am truly impressed. However it's frustrating to see the score boards climbing up every day, what do I say, every hour! and even the "possible" 100 points moving out of reach despite constant improvements. Anyway. Take care and have fun!

Anyone else got all 5 event scores in plat?
-
4 RepliesEdited by Yes, it's an alt account: 11/15/2025 9:51:21 PMDude just join fireteam finder groups. You dont need to talk. I got all my high scores that way aside from Salt Mines and crucible. If you want a high score in salt mines just throw on Controverse warlock or Bonk Titan and keep running until the HVT shows up. Also...you can always just not do it until the lock the scores next Saturday and then yiu know exactly what scores you need.

I hear you but that’s exactly how the event was designed: competitive. Meaning whatever score you have, as more people beat you your position go down. I was top 10 in all activities and this afternoon, logged on, and I was down top 30% on Hélio. The feeling sucks I agree, but I had to go back and try harder to get the score back to top 10. Also, being solo means nothing, I play solo and I use LFG.
