To list it off;
- Constant AoE environmental hazards; Check
- Enemies that constantly apply debuffs or force player movement (Stasis and Strand Dread Psions, respectively); Check
- Enemy spawns that are as slow as molasses, during a timed Ops; Check
- Invulnerable enemies with buggy vulnerability mechanics; Check
- Limited revives that go away after a time because the last 2 points combined are almost impossible to work around; Check, Check, and Check.
Overall, this Call to Arms challenge is not worth the effort so far, because at this point, you know that Bungie is just Trolling us. Why else would they make Dread Salt Mines a definitive part of the event?
-
Yes I agree, its HOT GARBAGE! ads just spamming abilities and bullets, with invincible yellow bars horde mode yes I watched Mactics video, but its just not fun at all
-
You forgot the fact its the least played solo op. The one we all avoid

Edited by vphokie: 11/14/2025 10:31:27 AMSalt mines is absolute hot garbage. What were they thinking making this the first activity you have to play to unlock the others? Add this to the list of L’s from EOF.

8 Replies- Protected appearing in close spaces where you can't even see the drones; Check. - Protected missing drones so they stay invulnerable forever; Check. - Enemies crossing barriers or appearing behind you out of nowhere; Check. - Last boss standing inside the bubble and right under the thing you have to destroy; Check. Salt Mines is totally broken in this event. Can't get to the last part before the time runs out and with just 1 or 2 revives left.

Simply too hard. Not fun. Tried it twice and have no plans to try it ever again.

9 RepliesEdited by Grim: 11/12/2025 8:59:48 AMWhat I hate most about this event isn't even the salt mines no pun intended. It's that people have already proven it to be nearly impossible to get the helmet. The whole point of sweating my @$$ off was the helmet. But now I found out you have to be in the top 30% for everything and in the top 10% on two of the things to have a high enough score to even get it. That means I have to get in the top 30% of pvp and almost ever match is a sweat fest from h*ll. I give up, i got to 30% on 3 of them but the coil is a joke and I don't think its possible for to score any higher it's just not happening for me. Plus I got to the second (tier I guess) for pvp and it just refuses to count my score anymore, glitchy pos.

1 ReplyI decided to try the salt mines today with the taken. Totally enjoyed seeing an Immune Minotaur with two little droids surrounding it along with it being surrounded by stasis. Bungie is so out of touch 💀
-
1 Replyneeds matchmaking

3 RepliesThe taken rotation ain’t so bad
-
Apart from a couple of immune taken pains I'm not having too much trouble. The worst part is the time it takes for the barriers to dissolve. I'm not saying your issues are invalid as I know how bad Bungie has messed up this event (I'm looking at you Coil).

I am a casual player and have actually reached 550, but the Salt Mines! After three attempts last night, I called it quits! It's ridiculous with all the broken mechanics and debuffs. I will give it a try again this evening, but not on Ultimate, LOL.
-
Edited by Sypher: 11/12/2025 3:12:15 AMThat's the worst mission in this game. Soon as I saw it, I'm like [BLAM!]
-
3 RepliesEdited by GPrime96: 11/13/2025 10:19:27 AMI gave Salt Mines a go for Ultimate Runs and the most i got from it is over 2.75 million at 550. That’s with Caltrops/all of the 5/4 spike challenge modifiers/Pressure Cooker/Touche/no Starting Ammo/Brawn/Extinction/1 CtA modifier/Heavyweight. I wasn’t able to kill a Vanguard Most Wanted, i found only one but wasn’t able to kill it in time.
-
The only real issue with it is having to wait for psion spawns even after destroying the splinters. It just drags on way too long. The hazards are telegraphed and Rocket Pulses with Choir and Grenades trivialize the enemy placements.
-
2 RepliesBeing a disabled gamer I’ve found the salt mines, being solo, absolutely impossible for me to do, it’s just to difficult, with all the things you mentioned, I really wanted to play and enjoy it, but that’s been made impossible for me
-
Edited by Jammers: 11/13/2025 1:01:29 PMhello bungie you in there? the call to arms scoring is another brain dead scenario . no progressive avenue to even earn the 100 pts . no reason to even play the event. apparently you dont want players. cause this happy nonsense is only going to justify leaving the game. your sore ego has taken a hit but this stuff will burn in skid marks.

5 RepliesEdited by Ortsa: 11/12/2025 9:51:49 PMI saw someone extolling the virtues of the Call to Arms, but they neglected to point out the obvious. 90% of all the existing D2 players will not, I repeat, will not be able to complete the requirements to get the helmet or emblem. So, what's the point Bungie? Did anyone in management even try to think this through before going live with this activity? Remove 90% of your player base from the completion of the equation? I'm sorry, but this has to right up there as one of the dumbest operating decisions Bungie has ever made. I can't think of a good reason to get on their treadmill which is frozen in place. There are so many problems with this whole activity management should be ashamed of themselves for even putting Call to Arms out. Most of the ingredients are present, but they have not been mixed correctly or even baked properly.

Edited by whateverman7: 11/13/2025 3:06:52 PMThe salt mines are fine. Only issue I have with it is the delayed enemies spawning, which slows moving forward down. The issue I have with the event is that it's set up against everyone that isn't max light. The higher your light, the higher score you can potentially get. That means people with lower light are getting the short end of the stick when it comes to what percentage tier you fall. That's not a real competition.
-
I DO NOT do Salt Mines Dread. I don’t care WHAT is up for grabs. THAT is the WORST solo ops to me. Not even remotely fun. The Dread are the crappiest enemy introduced into this game by a WIDE margin. They make ANY activity miserable and an AUTOMATIC SKIP for me. I will NOT do one with them in it. Period.

100% constant obvious trolling. In an environment where the feeling on their game can't get any lower, they decide to constantly troll us at every opportunity and make us suffer. It's like their dev team is just a frat house now. And they aren't even trying to hide it. It's either that or they are throwing/shorting on purpose. Some of the weapon buffs are obvious trolls. In an update where they are taking the chains off of many things, they give the weakest weapon in the game, the bow, a 7ms draw time buff. They have to still be laughing.
-
They could have done a better job at it to get a win when the morale and the player base are so low, yet the event is making me question if they even think about it.
-
7 RepliesReally? I thought the biggest troll of the event was naming the Title Avant-garde.
-
Adding a leaderboard to a 10 year old game for only 4 activities is an event now. The bar keeps getting lower.
-
Well, I am impressed... They called out the community for wanting loot in a dungeon... Now mining salt... But I think this is an interactive experience... And part of the game... "She" is part of the game now... Like an AI realizing its a ship, then incorporeal and part of a digitized reality... Make rules... Drive people away from messing with your reality...

>literally called Salt Mines.
