After letting it sit in for a while, testing, playing, and being forced into this -30 Delta I can clearly state that this is completely unfair.
It's nice to be able to get tier 5 weapons and armor but everything that I play in Portal is a punishment.
It's unfair that I have to play a light-hearted seasonal event like the Festival of the Lost and be at -30 Delta.
Once you put in your time and grind your way to the light level required especially hitting ranked 11 and power level 550 you should not be punished from that point forward.
Tier 5 should drop no matter what once you hit Max Ranks. You put in your time and it should be rewarded in such a manner. I understand a -10 but a -30 is like a bit much
You got to remember that everything is going to the portal therefore doing well should never be punished and making things miserable.
Make it Fair not Miserable.

1 ReplyI get it. But, If bungie takes away the delta thingy, would it be way too easy to grind tier 5 loots? And what about those who are well below 400’s when they see those who are above 450+ when grinding for loots? There’s gotta be a way to make getting tier 5 worthwhile…. Even I don’t like it either.

4 RepliesAgree, I’m much more annoyed with the modifiers than the delta itself though. Silver lining is, it’s a good time to farm content outside the portal for exotics and cosmetics as it feels chill. I just did the Shatters Throne for Wish ender and it felt so good to have no modifiers, just ennemies. And since the new builds are more powerful it’s actually fun even solo.

1 ReplyImagine completing two Ultimate conquests (-50 delta requiring flawless runs) to get to rank 11, then hopping on a forum to lobby for a -10 power delta....🤔

Edited by Podman46: 11/2/2025 5:37:28 PMI think the problem is the fact that everything got moved into Portal and then them wanting to make each progression of portal tougher up to ultimate and it just doesn't work as a one size fits all thing. Also the problem that when you're high level your basically stuck in doing ultimate difficulty for anything you want to do in the game otherwise any of the rewards is pointless for you so you can never really have any fun just doing anything casual even if you go into lower level content you're still always had a power delta so you're always underleveled and pretty much everything even if you're 550 light and you go into an expert playlist all your light level doesn't matter You're still under level in that playlist. This was especially noticeable when I was going into normal difficulty playlist to get data pads for weekly challenges and finding myself getting annihilated by pumpkin banes There's so many activities in the portal that were never intended or designed around the restrictions of the modifiers like limited lives and the timers and things put on it. This is especially noticeable in Pinnacle activities where you have some of the most tedious activities where you have precise jumping puzzles that were made to have you constantly die and eat up time trying to complete in a limited time frame for like exotic missions. And now because of the one size fits all of anything that's ultimate is automatically a one-life starting off you then have the imbalance that the only way to get more lives is to kill champions but some of these missions don't even have you fight champions until you're well into the mission so if you fell at any of the puzzle mechanics it's just over. There could have been something said for something to be that punishing when you were playing the actual exotic mission for an actual exotic item in special loot but when you're getting the same loot from this mission as the next mission that is much easier and simpler to do what is even the point of it. And then you couple that with some of the missions being overtuned like Avalon where it already had huge volumes of tough elite enemies and making the power deltas even greater than what you ever had to deal with in the first place and it becomes miserable it's not a question of can you do it it's do you really want to do it more than once or twice like there is no replayability if it's a slugfest to even make it to the end to maybe get a drop that you can get in doing an easier pinnacle mission so you're just making this content show up in the menu that really has nobody intending to play it because it's excessively unfun. And then the duality Pinnacle mission in ultimate you don't even get a chance to get an extra life until you collected the first chalice when the doors open up to have a chance to get an unstoppable so if you're playing in a fire team on ultimate and anyone dies in the transitioning or anything they're gone until you get that one champion killed it's ridiculous. But what they should do is portal only go up to master difficulty. That way there's no lives any of that other ridiculous stuff for doing the portal content. And maybe at master you give a minus 10 or 15 Delta. Bring back nightfalls for the people that want a challenging weekly activity where you can do it as master grandmaster and ultimate and that's where you can put the higher power deltas on and you can put all of the sweaty hard modifiers on and make a unique loot pols for it again like night falls used to have but people could go in the master nightfall and get tier 3 versions of the nightfall loot if they do the grandmaster version they'll get tier four versions of the nightfall loot and if they do the ultimate version they'll get to tier five version of it.

I dont understand their obsession with deltas when it comes to a seasonal event like FoTL altars

With forced power deltas there’s no point to the power grind other than a barrier to entry.

3 RepliesBungie listened to people that said stuff was too easy, not challenging and boring but ignored the larger playerbase that enjoyed being able to feel powerful. Then they decided to take the path of least resistance to difficulty and we got bullet sponges, immunity phases and the catch all -ve power delta. Well that fixed things nicely................

i hate the way things are now i used to love the over cap giving a small respite for reatching cap now ied rather not play im only on to help others and its damaging to my mental health to be honest ive lost alot of faith in the game and ive been searching for domthing refreshing to enjoy

-30 on it’s own is OK, but is problematic in match-made activities with enforced modifiers. One ‘solution’ would be to have -30 delta up to 500 but then be able to over-level so at 530 there is no delta; that would keep ‘player engagement’ for Bungie’s point of view and reward for playing time from players’ point of view.

I don’t mind the power difference, what does really annoy me is ONE revive on Ultimate and immediately someone dies because they think they are invincible. Then another dies and suddenly you have no revives until an area is claimed. If this happens, I just go to orbit. If you’re that bad at the game, I have no time for you in a matchmaking event!

I'm convinced it's not even a -30 delta. I played at -30 prior to the changes and that felt balanced - this doesnt, in terms of daily content.
-
This is right on. The fun stopped and the sweating began. Doesn’t matter what you do…it’s a sweat fest.
-
Agreed I hate it to… after haunted alters is gone I’m not going to want to play any more solo ops is dead for sure I mean you can’t even play the normal version and earn the weapon features there because it’s impossible to get past the C tier… like why even have it… you literally can’t farm it

3 RepliesBungie: Play how you want :) Also Bungie: Oh you’re above 500? Here’s a forced delta, locked loadouts and 1 million modifiers that make your character turn into dust within seconds, enjoy and buy more eververse :)

Yup .

9 RepliesIf you can hit 550, there's absolutely zero reason to be crying about a miniscule -30 delta.
