Right now I'm working on Outlast; I can play about ten minutes at a time, which is pretty pathetic, but I gotta' start somewhere.

3 RepliesDon’t play too many horror games myself. A bit too squeamish for a genre that relies so heavily on gore. When horror isn’t just relying on gore & jumpscares, though, it can be quite fun. I’m playing through Little Goody Two Shoes atm, and it is very good.

4 RepliesXKCD has a commentary that sums up my opinion on the horror genre pretty well. https://xkcd.com/2056/ That said, if you want it to be up your alley, go ahead and embrace it. 10 min here and there is more than 0.

1 ReplySo the main reason I never played many horror games is the fact that a lot of the older ones (resident evil, silent hill, alone in the dark etc) deliberately use awkward controls or camera angles to make you feel powerless and frustrated as well as the content itself being frightening, and it really puts me off playing when I’m being deliberately hampered from doing the things that I want to. I got quite far into Alien Isolation and Still Wales the Deep because they don’t do that kind of thing and I really enjoyed them.

1 ReplyThe only thing about outlast I don't like is that it's not scary.

I didn’t think Outlast fit into the survival horror genre. It’s a good game, though. I was trying to get the speedrun/no hiding/no batteries achievements in one run but I moved out before I could : (

2 RepliesI haven't played that one; it's where you're a reporter with nothing but a night-vision camcorder, right?
