Archetype is determined by the trait in column 1. For example exotic class items with Spirit of Apotheosis or Spirit of Inmost Light will always be Paragon, Spirit of Caliban will always be Brawler, and Spirit of Osmiomancy will always be Grenadier. I haven't checked them since early EoF but looking at the traits only Inmost, Galanor, Eternal Warrior, and Apotheosis will allow you to get Paragon exotic class items - someone can correct that though if its wrong and there are others.
