What's your favorite scary or Halloween media?

In no particular order: • The Haunting (1967), one of the best horror movies ever made in my opinion, best watched without a cellphone in hand, it holds up surprisingly well. • The Blair Witch Project (1999), especially spooky if you live in the woods, the original found footage horror movie, lots of paranormal tension. • Paranormal Activity (2009), nice and spooky if you're into ghost stories, a fantastic companion for The Haunting and Blair Witch, the low-tech special effects enhance the spookiness. • The fall of the House of Usher (2023), an anthology series by Mike Flanagan, great story telling, each episode retells a story from Edgar Allan Poe, but in the modern world. • Limetown (2019), part horror, part mystery, I do a yearly re-listen to the podcast, it's just damn near perfect, I don't want to spoil anything, but it's a fantastic listen. • The Magnus Archives (2016), another podcast and anthology series, spooky stories with fairly compelling acting, good for background noise, good for dedicated listening. • The Simposons: Tree House of Horror (Various), what can I say? I'm a millennial! I just like the stories, they always put me in the Halloween mood. Edit: • House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski is trippy and weird, but in the best ways. Best if you can find it in paperback, the digital editions don't really do it justice. It'll linger. • White Horse by Alex Adams is another good book, also trippy, cosmic horror in its way. She's got some of the best prose I've read, very stark and succinct. What's on your list?

Wow, this would take soooo long for me to list since I'm a fan of horror in general but I'll try to keep it brief: This Halloween I'm going for a musical trifecta, and I've watched 2 out of 3 being 'Repo: The Genetic Opera' and 'Little Shop of Horrors.' All that remains is 'Rocky Horror' for the Triple Crown. I also watched 'Phantoms' a few days ago and while it's not as good as the Dean Koontz novel, I've always enjoyed the movie. I'm looking forward to 'It: Welcome to Derry' and 'Talamasca' this weekend as well. Too many others to list really, so I'll just leave it with those. Fair warning though, it's entirely possible I'll feel compelled to add more and this response will turn into a grocery list of Halloween favorites of mine. Edit: Oops, just thought of 2: 'In the Mouth of Madness' and 'Event Horizon.' - 'The Thing' -'Village of the Damned' - 'I, Zombie' Not scary but definitely worth a watch. - 'The Monster Squad'
