I mean dude, genuinely it’s getting ridiculous. I have 110 health stat, Frost Armor, and yet I die every single run of Altars of Sorrow. This game never used to be like this, it’s unbelievably frustrating.

5 RepliesYour mistake is having high health which is a waste of time outside of PvP. Priotising damage output and then obtaining healing/damage protection via your build is the way to go for pve.

2 RepliesGo ahead & get rid of that health, my guy. Health is only good for pvp, & only past 100.

4 RepliesDid you read the info on the health stat at all ?Having 100 health returns a max of 70 health when you pick up an orb. This means you gotta use mods & fragments that produce plenty of orbs... unless there's a Brawn modifier. Brawn negates all the health regeneration from orbs. In that case you need heal clip & healing grenades, facet of blessing. Also, your extra 10 in the health stat is basically doing nothing. Anything over 100 wont give you any more health, but will make your shields stronger. If you hover over your health stat, it tells you how much stronger. Those 10 points probably equate to like 3% stronger shields. There's really no need for health to be over 30 or so in PvE... whereas PvP you wanna crank it as high as possible.

I don’t know the scaling in PvE off the top of my head, but it is not substantial a not work to the investment, especially at 110. If you’re playing the highest difficulty, you shouting expect to never die. If you’re dying a lot, then look at why you’re dying and make changes to your gameplay approach or build. Builds are very very strong in the current sandbox, but there’s just as many weak builds that aren’t worth running if you’re in that power fantasy mood. And all that said, you’re really not struggling based on your match history. You got one death here and there. More than anything, I think you just need to be okay thing in the game every now and then. That said, you are pressured into playing harder activities due to how they tied loot progression to level rather than just having harder stuff drop better loot like it had been for a decade.

The grounded modifier can really hit hard, it feels like when you're in the air everyone targets you, plus being a hunter and using a GL I am jumping all the time to avoid blowing myself up.

1 ReplyEdited by Stalkholm: 10/30/2025 5:44:18 PMTry stacking Solar Resist and Melee Resist if you're having problems in round three, you can also throw on a Void resist if it's the first two rounds that are giving you problems. I've also found that weapons with good ad clear are a godsend in Altars; Chain Reaction, Volt Shot, Incandescent, and Destabilizing Rounds put in work; fewer surviving enemies means fewer enemies hitting you. I'm guessing from the stacks of Frost Armor that you're playing Titan; as a Warlock I can't give you a ton of advice, but if you choose to pick up Warlock I've found that that Buddies are extremely helpful, they shoot things you can't even see, and Vesper of Radius' AoE explosions will help keep enemies off your butt. (Blind and Amplified are super helpful; if an enemy can't see you, they can't hit you.) As Bore said below, Health is more of a PvP stat, it's really useful when you can find a corner to hide in for a second, but not so great when you've got waves and waves of enemies constantly closing in on your location. You might be better off putting points into Weapons and using a gun with good ad clear, but that's going to depend highly on what builds you like to play. And, for what it's worth, there seems to be a small element of randomization to the difficulty; I can often go three Altars with no deaths, then get absolutely walloped in the fourth, maybe it has to do with spawn placement or something, I don't know, but what I'm saying is it's normal to get knocked down from time to time, even with a good build. I believe in you, you can do the thing! Oh! And make sure you're shooting the Shrieker before you try to Invoke Hive Magic, those dudes have a k/d ratio that's off the charts. Disabling Shriekers saves lives.
