Lower the deltas or the game will certainly die.

I just tried to run some Fireteam MM again and it takes about 30 seconds before I'm the only guardian alive and expected to fight off three overloads and a couple of snipers - something that is more or less impossible when you have a weak roaming super that wont stun and an AR. I have no chance of reviving so this goes on for 30 seconds, followed by people reviving and instantly leaving. It's completely pointless to even attempt to play it - meaning that there'll be even less to play. Matchmade portal activities should be at the level of old Vanguard strikes and not old GM's. This needs to be sorted out tomorrow or at the latest next week. I would argue that there shouldnt be any negative deltas above 500 - as in the enemies capping out at 500. That's when you've reached a level where you should be able to reap the benefits from leveling. It's completely unreasonable that you should have to go in with a team and optimize builds for daily content. It was way better - and had much more autonomy - prior to this delta change.

  • Better yet, remove the deltas altogether. The game was fun when I was able to over level things. Ever since they implemented deltas in final shape or lightfall, can't remember, it has been nothing but a detriment to the game.

      Its going to become more of an issue as time goes on. As more players get closer to 500 and start doing GM and Ultimate as the baseline to progress you will get more and more clueless blueberries in matchmaking and its just not realistic to throw them into that level of content. Before EoF the base line activites were basic and at level or like -10 at most. Now these same blueberries that were tbh not flying through vanguard ops pre-eof are now thrust into Grandmaster/Ultimate level activities with limited revives, champions, modifiers and banes and it goes as well as you'd expect. I mostly play FPS games and I find Destiny to be incredibly easy to play, but with all this power delta crap its still easy but just not fun. I don't find it enjoyable that my SMG is neutered because "the will of Bungie demands you be -30" in Devil's Lair or Empire Hunts in 20-f'ing-25, I just want to blow the aliens away and watch them blow up with minimal effort while still getting some reward that is relevant to me. I think we had a happy medium before with the basic level activities like Vanguard Ops where you could just demolish and still get rewards. There was still however challenging content like Grandmasters which had reasons to be replayed with unique loot. It is just sad that they tried making the game like some weird Diablo type thing and it just feels empty, there is quite a few activities in The Portal but none of them matter. I'll make an example of an activity that will return in the future... The Nether. In Heresy there was quite a lot of depth to the activity with its unique loot pool and shiny adept weapons to chase just for the flex, the secrets were also worthwhile to engage with because it would give you rewards for doing them. But what will happen when it returns in The Portal? It'll just have the same loot as every other activity and the secrets won't matter.

    • I miss just being able to load into a strike not even knowing what It would be and still get acceptable rewards. Throw in champions and banes if you want even. But don’t just clobber us with negative modifiers until you are satisfied with us obtaining worthwhile gear at a heavily reduced rate. That feels bad for multiple reasons.

      • Better idea, remove deltas entirely or rework them to be a level reduction rather than a level cap. The very point of a level system is to become stronger, not so you can play harder activities for marginally better gear. I seriously can't think of anyone who actually finds this kind of difficulty "fun", invalidating your progress almost completely for gear you'll never fully enjoy.

      • It's also ridiculous that there are so many activities now that lock your gear when you start them. that kind of thing is understandable for mid-endgame content like higher difficulty nightfalls but for the newest FOTL activity??? It's unnecessary and ridiculous. Locking your loadout should only happen in competitive Crucible playlists and aforementioned higher level content. And while we're discussing loadouts, stop forcing new gear requirements down everyone's throats. all absolutely ridiculous.

        • They should get rid of the deltas and let them be completely optional for those that want to test their skill. Let people run at a negative 90 if they want and let me run feeling like im the bullet sponge bosses crushing everything in site. Being forced to always play at a negative mods sucks. I want to have fun and for me being the god killer i am means crushing the enemy not getting one shot by a dreg. Let us play how we want to play.

          • I hear you and can relate. Basically our whole clan has given up on the game. For myself it’s the latest joke, festival of the lost. Used to be enjoyable. PlayStation has taken rinse and repeat to a new low.

          • Imagine still struggling with champions in the big 25.. if y'all haven't solidified a build that effectively dispatches champions by now, there's genuinely no helping you. The delta isn't the issue here either.

            • Tbh i wouldnt remove deltas. They allow for ennemies to actually be dangerous. (Seriously sometimes i feel like people just want to fight bots that cant do anything) I would remove the annoying modifiers tough There is absolutely zero fun in being slowed with melees, or having no HP regen, or losing hp if you stop moving for 2 seconds etc...

              • You'd think they would just have delta's be a optional component as well where it dramatically boosts your score when they decided to pitch the idea to uncuff modifiers with combatant power but I guess all the devs lack brain cells. And ya know not playing their own game

              • The real problem is that you match with same light level. That’s something I don’t appreciate. I’d say if you need a good player, I’m in, but I’m only 320, not super motivated to get meh loot for the next while. You must be 500+, so good luck buddy.

              • I am not even bothering with most matchmade activities as I can never get a high enough score to get the tier 5 items that should be "raining on me" according to others now that I am over 470. It is a sad situation as matchmade is the most accessible mode to jump into.

                • This is the only game I play, with status-based mechanics, where I can have the best possible gear/stats, thousands of hours of played time, and still get randomly killed by some trash mob—no matter where. Why do we have stats in this game, and power levels if any crap mob with a pistol can snipe you across the map and halve your hp, "just because". Sometimes I do bounties in the open world, and those maps are way below my power level, and yet, if I let a mob focus me, it can easily take down my shields and HP. What a joke. When I played World of Warcraft and had the best possible gear, one of my best farming methods for gold was to go to a high-level map and plow the whole area with my warrior. Besides a minor mistake here or there or lag, nothing, including mini-bosses in the area, would kill me. It was in Burning Stepes, for the WoW players reading it. Those elite dragonkin dropped a lot of items, cloth, and gold, but they hit like a truck, so it was no joke. But a warrior with the Orange hammer of fun will turn those dragons into BBQ. Here, if you blink, some dumb Fallen with a pistol can really screw you over. Bungie needs to make up its mind because even in a Souls game, once you have your build set, you are basically immortal except against a few enemies.
