Good evening everybody! This is AIfos coming to you alive from... You know, this is normally the bit where I'd list off a contextually appropriate location, but I'm talking about junk that's 20 years old, and I don't have a good enough memory to remember enough about these things to do that bit, so let's just get to the topic at hand!
I was talking with a buddy the other day about one of my favorite book series as a kid, only to realize that the books I was talking about--and still owned--were 20 years old, which, that was kind of fun to think about. These dusty old kid's books were some of the oldest things in my room! So, I thought it'd be fun to see what old knickknacks and baubles the rest of you nerds have.
Let's talk about old stuff!
Tl;dr? Here's my point!
That post was really short, and if you need a tl;dr you should really work on your attention span, but regardless, tell me about old stuff you've got!
My answer:
Now, I don't have anything passed down through my family or whatever, so for me it's a four way tie of things from my childhood. I doubt it's an actual tie, but it's not like I remember which of these I got first!
1. My old Starscream action figure, from Transformers: Cybertron. Loved Transformers as a li'l Aifos, and of course I really liked the edgy ones like Starscream. I had a bunch of other Transformers, but Starscream's the only one I managed to hold onto this entire time. One of his arms is broken and I, of course, do not have his Cyber Key anymore, but he's actually in surprisingly good condition given how long I've had him.
2. My collection of Gamecube games. Got a bunch of 'em, and I still have a Wii to play them on, even! Unfortunately, my Gamecube controllers are all in pretty poor condition, so playing any of them is a bit of a pain, but it is still possible, and I still play some Kirby Air Ride every now and then. Which, of course, will probably no longer be the case in a month, because Kirby Air Riders hype!
3. My Pokémon cards! Never actually played the game properly, but me and my sister would use them like action figures. Have a whole bucket full of these guys, and some of them are around 20 years old. I didn't use card sleeves back then, and I don't have a binder, so they're probably not in the best condition, but even so, it's neat I still have them! Back when I was a li'l Aifos I was a boring, uncultured swine and my favorite card was Dark Charmeleon. Thankfully, as I got older, I realized Mawile was the best Pokémon.
4. And finally, those books I mentioned! My favorite book series when I was a li'l Aifos was the Spiderwick Chronicles, and I still have the first 7 books! I never actually finished the 7th, and as such never picked up the 8th, but li'l me did quite love these books. I've considered rereading them on a few occasions to see if they still hold up, but honestly it would probably be best to buy new copies if I was going to do that. These books definitely show their age!
As a fun side note, most of you know that I am a published author, and in my second book the main character's name is Mallory, which is apparently the name of the older sister that I may or may not have had a crush on as a kid in Spiderwick. The funny part is that this is a total coincidence--I got the name Mallory from a totally different source!
Anyway, as I mentioned, all of this stuff is 20 years old, which is pretty fun if you ask me! This stuff is probably older than some of you people on this forum!
But that's all for now folks, jambuhbye!
