I’ve been playing since Destiny 1 and made lots of friends along the way, as well as spent many hours playing. When Destiny 2 came out, basically the same thing happened; hours with friends.
But now, it seems like a second job. Objectives, battle pass and all these side missions, I just don’t have the time. Even my friends got bored with it, because we all work full time jobs. Except for one, he works part time but schedules his game session with us.
What drives me crazy most is that no matter how high of a gear score you get, even a good load-out; why is it so difficult to pass even a standard nightfall? I didn’t even attempt the grandmaster, forget it. Ran into some issues with the matchmaking, if people joined, they should show up. I feel I have to do extra steps to get people to join. Where they just send me a message, I friend request them, and then they join me in the game. It shouldn’t be like that. I’m not sure if anyone else encountered that problem, but it’s getting to be too much.
Speaking of which, it’s too much now. At one point they had New Monarchy, Future War Cult and Dead Orbit. I liked their gear and armor sets, and had a character assigned to each one. I was able to complete missions with all three factions, within a day. Now they are gone, not fun. Matchmaking, still unbalanced. Seems like other teams have more superior gear and teammates that know what they are doing. My teams, constant struggle. I had to turn off cross platform because lots of us noticed there were people hacking the game. So we stopped doing PvP all together. Not that I care, it’s just something we noticed, and one less thing for us to do. Gambit, freaking awesome, but still unbalanced. I get the Dredgen title every season.
Other than gambit and just regular game play, that’s all I really care about. The seasonal missions seem very lackluster and sometimes drawn out.
I just got bored.
Anyway, I know lots of you found your groove, enjoy the game and know how to get all the good stuff, which is cool. Newer players, the same thing. So I don’t think Bungie and the Destiny community will miss this dinosaur. 🤣 To my friends that send me invites to play, just don’t, because I’m uninstalling. Good luck everyone.

"I’ve been playing since Destiny 1" just get to the damn point, r/DTG dweller.
-
You haven’t played since May. This video sums up your post. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BLUkgRAy_Vo
-
Played this game for almost 10 years. Can assure you it’ll crash harder than anthem in the near year.
-
Who cares bye 👋
-
I been her since start of D1 and about to quit too, it’s been a pleasure. Godspeed guardian.
-
This isn't an airport terminal. You don't need to announce your departure. You also haven't played the game since May so this thread you posted is nothing but cringe ragebait. Grow up.
-
You’re retiring? Sound like a manchild. Unless you made money off gaming/destiny2 then you didn’t retire you just are on indefinite hiatus. Gotta be like 22 and still don’t know the proper term is crazy. I don’t want to be rude but BYE. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Now destiny 2 has 29 players left… how sad

Daffy, The Disappointed
I'm not even angry. - old
Take me with you. -
Lolol retiring eh? How’s the pension ?
-
Take care! I won't buy another DLC for sure next year. Which I did regularly since the start of Destiny 2. It looks like I'm in a transition regarding my "retirement."

Sorry to hear that buddy, it’s a shame the game we all loved has been replaced with this mess, I keep coming back to it in the hope it’s changed, but the whole feel of it is wrong, I live in hope, but afraid Bungie have completely lost the plot
-
Honestly, they need to retire D2, it’s done, past it’s used by date, and as you have mentioned, all the fun is gone… It’s now just a broken trainwreck and I feel beyond repair.

Edited by yodas_buddy: 9/24/2025 4:23:35 PMI feel the same way

I think most people feel the same way about the game as you, bud. Bungie has lost track of this game completely and really does not listen to any feedback unless you are some overhyped streamer who overreacts with everything when trying to sell the game to you
-
Funny that some people post the who cares garbage. Honestly I care. I get why people are leaving and that’s fine. You have that option. It matters to me because the more people leave the closer Bungie gets to closing down D2. I’ve made my peace and decided to go down with the ship while preparing for the worst. I’ll keep playing here and there while trying out other games to fill the void. To OP. Good luck out there and I hope you find your way back if D2 gets in a good place. If it doesn’t; be free and enjoy yourself. Toss and extra 🍺 for the crew that stayed on the sinking ship and another for the times.

When you know you know.

Been fun guardian 🫡🍻🤜🤛

D2 is what it is …a dying legend ! It’s sad to see but it’s only going to get worse . The Star Wars cross over was a desperate attempt to retain players and squeeze the last drops of cash .
-
bye 👋👋👋

Dont forget to uninstall this app
