Why was Iron Banner on hold for 3 months for 1 gun

Edited by mirage: 9/19/2025 4:15:04 PMChange your thought process. Bungie didn’t release iron banner for players. It’s not a subscription game, most of us here already purchased the DLC. They needed time to add new armor set to eververse store, which they almost did if not for the heavy player backlash. And 1 new weapon was so much overdelivery, Bungie had to reduce its drop weight to 10% or less of regular world drops to temper player expectations.

2 RepliesBringing back 1 or 2 weapons from the Rise of Iron era would have been enough to give people a reason to play. We would have NOTHING if they hadn’t been forced to quickly change an EV armor set to the new IB set. Recent life events have made me want to stop being so negative all the time. But…wtf are you doing, Bungie??

I thought there was going to be a new game mode. Old gun with new perks. Old guns from previous events. Old armor got packed up and replaced with something new for once. Yeah, no reason for a delay to do the same thing as usual

Just got 4 drops at the end of a match and not a single one was an iron banner piece of armor or weapon. It just doesn’t make sense. Why is the focus drop last discipline arms and not iron banner arms?

2 RepliesThey needed 3 months to break the "ornament for less grind" interaction. I'm not going to scour my ornament list and blow transmog synths (why is this even still a thing??) just to find which 3 IB armors trigger the reduced grind. So far, only my emblem and heavy weapon seem to be counting and I have armor ornaments from 3 different IB seasons equipped. Still only 2 out of 5 in reduction credit.

I was thinking they might do something similar to solstice where there were at least iron bannery type modifiers in the other modes and like, maybe the axe would randomly spawn in the playlists for you to use. But hey, why have good ideas?

Virtually all the weapons in IB are crap and useless bar 1 or 2. The armour has always been bland and desperate though the Beryllium armour with its iron plating offset with royal blue is imo the first decent looking IB armour in D2 bar the reprised D1 stuff. If they can just fix the armour picture appearance then we're good. Other than that, even though ive played a bit of it to get the beryllium, there's jack all to play for. Bungie just need to crawl in a hole and let some guys with vision and passion take over. Then get some proper devs and not a bunch of geek donkeys with the brains of a drunk fish.

No new content, ported content from Original Destiny, copy and paste old reskins and re-use old content. If you want new things check out Eververse. At least they didn’t steal the artwork.

2 RepliesNgl, if they'd make every IB weapons, under the "tiered system" this would at least be something decent. But one single gun after three months ? And it's not a new gun or one with best perk combinaisons of all time, yeah.. It's like they forgot to work on the Iron Banner update, until they saw their TWID. That, or they are 5 people working on the game.

2 RepliesUp until Ash and Iron dropped, I had some moderate expectations for this IB. Bringing back a couple of Rise of Iron weapons would have made sense. Instead, we get a weapon that we had access to on a regular basis and we were going to get just another reskinned set of armor. Good thing the community convinced them to ditch the armor plans. I'm not sure what took them three months to do, but IB it was not.
