Feedback on the Current State of Destiny 2
I’ve been a Destiny fan since 2015, starting with The Taken King. Over the years, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the game: I quit, come back, quit again, then return. Recently, I came back after Lightfall and was left asking myself: what happened to Destiny?
The game feels like it’s stuck in a cycle. Here are the main issues I’ve noticed:
1. The Portal System
• The portal is currently the main activity, and it makes the rest of the game feel irrelevant.
• Strikes, Gambit, Nightfalls, dungeons, raids, old quests, and even vendors feel useless.
• Everything I’ve previously spent money on has lost its value because it’s sidelined.
• For solo players, matchmaking should bring people together for more activities. Relying only on LFG makes the game feel repetitive and isolating.
Fix suggestion:
• Remove or rework the portal system.
• Bring back meaningful reasons to play existing activities (strikes, Gambit, Nightfalls, dungeons, raids).
• Reinstate the old pinnacle system so every part of the game feels rewarding again.

2. Gameplay Variety
• The run-and-gun loop is stale. We need more creativity in how we experience Destiny.
• Ships, for example, have never been usable in-game. Why not introduce space battles, similar to Star Wars Battlefront 2?
• Instead of reskinned enemies like “renegade brigs,” Bungie should introduce fresh enemy types, mechanics, and activities.
Fix suggestion:
• Expand gameplay systems beyond just shooting.
• Add modes where we can fly ships, fight in space, or take on bounty-hunter-style missions where we can hunt other guardians.
• Explore new identity for Guardians — not just soldiers, but hunters, bounty trackers, or planetary defenders.
⸻
3. Live Events & World Engagement
• Destiny has lost its sense of a living, changing world.
• Early in Destiny 2, we had the live event where the Traveler healed — moments like that were exciting.
• Now, there are no real-time world-changing events to pull players back in.
Fix suggestion:
• Bring back live events where enemies invade planets or zones.
• Example: Your Ghost warns you that “the EDZ is under attack.” You and other Guardians travel there to fight back waves of enemies together in a challenging event.
• Make these events dynamic and unpredictable to give the world personality and urgency.

Final Thoughts
Destiny 2 feels like it has lost its creativity and community focus. The game is too centered on repetitive, solo grind loops instead of being a living universe where Guardians come together.
If Bungie wants players to stay excited — and to make expansions like The Final Shape or future DLC worth buying — they need to:
1. Rebalance the game away from the portal.
2. Restore matchmaking and pinnacles across all activities.
3. Add new gameplay systems (like ship combat and bounty hunting).
4. Reintroduce live events to bring the world alive again.
AND FINALLY BRING BACK FACTIONS!!! DEAD ORBIT ALL OF THE OTHER ONES
Destiny has the potential to be something truly unique, but it needs bold creativity and more community-driven design.
