The Gladius set was originally Iron Banner armor and was put into the Eververse.

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4NOw94 I saw this post here on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyFashion/s/QVEQzUWsWH Can we get a comment on why this clearly Iron Banner armor was instead put in the Eververse?

this assumption is unfounded speculation. The only detail to maybe suggest the claim has any validity is the IB tree symbol on the Titan set concept art, which is just concept art and doesn't mean much. Every other IB set is medieval themed, while this EV set is Roman Gladiator themed. The original claim also doesn't add up, because the only announcement of a "new" IB set was in the 9/9 blog post on Ash and Iron launch, well after the gladius set was added to EV.

It's when Bungie literally said "incredibly cool new armor set" in reference to iron banner then only to release a re-skin, that kinda gives it away.

The reason is simple. Bungie have been told by Sony that they need to make a profit by the end of the next financial year (31 March 2026), lest their executives lose what scant freedoms they have remaining. As such, anything that remotely looks like it will generate excitement from those players they have remaining will be put behind an Eververse paywall. Simply put, Sony want a return for their investment, so the days of being able to earn cool stuff for free are now behind us. All the cool looking cosmetics are now either tied behind buying the season pass or buying it from Eververse. It is simple business at the end of the day. JvK

                • KackisHD made a video about this. https://youtu.be/grgxVBkR-Nk?si=JttkVt382bLV69wC It’s pretty obvious they took armor originally designed for IB and made them Eververse ornaments. Deleting it from ArtStation confirms it.

                • I believe multiple sets before this have had the same treatment. There are good parts of this game but the model is exactly this. Engage as many players as we can for as little effort as possible and make all the truly cool things micro transactions. This is destiny and has been for a long time now. It’s just now, with the portal etc, it’s even more obvious. The game dies.

                • Remember when Bungie said that the cash shop had become too important to Destiny, and that they were going to start making more armour that was good aesthetically, that you coulf earn? Remember when they said they weren't going to put enemy faction armour in the Eververse store anymore, because that deserved to be earnable? Well, we're on our sixteenth recycling of iron banner armour, the newest one was just stolen and add to the cash shop for twenty dollars, and the new taken and vex sets are exclusive to the cash shop. What a time to be alive.

                • While eververse is a big money maker for bungie. What the company fails to see that good will and respect will not only increase the playerbase. But make people more willing to spend on eververse. The need to take a hit in that department to create any good will. As well as actually listen to the community and bring back things like siva. But not just as ornaments. Weapons, armour, mods. Origin traits and most importantly a faction that can be used in the story

                • Corpo greed for 1. 2. It sucks like a drunk fish in a wind tunnel anyway so wont be buying it. 3. I have bought EV armour ornaments b4 but not often. I dont feel good about wearing armour or ornaments from EV very much coz literally anyone can buy them. I haven't earned them through a tricky activity like Raids or Dungeons for e.g.

                      • I always suspected they intentionally made ugly armor sets for the grind with the hope that it would drive people towards buying the cooler looking sets on eververse. I’d be completely okay with them selling desirable sets on there if they would at least make decent looking gear for the loot. This just disgusts me.
