Destiny 2's Future is so Dead

This is just going to be an unfiltered rant because I have no desire to proof read and edit or anything of the sort because giving any more of time to this unimaginative, uninspired corporation is a -blam-ing waste. As you can probably expect i just watched the new reveal trailer for Renegades and holy hell what a pile of slop it proves to be. I think it is what most people expected at this point, boring, bland, safe, unimaginative but to actually see it... Damn, you actually murdered whatever soul Destiny had. I haven't played destiny in almost a year but after playing Destiny Rising for a bit I was inspired to give D2 another go. As fun as Rising is, it's limited by it's design being a mobile game, a gatcha game at that but I still enjoyed my brief stint with and felt a desire to try D2 again. And what a f-ing wake up call these past two days have been, perfect timing to experience all the BS Bungo has to offer. And to top it all of with the trailer of what's next, absolutely pitiful. So let's actually get down into it a bit more... It shouldn't be lost on anyone that Destiny has found itself in a dire situation. The complete lack of creativity and inability to create anything new and engaging has left players bewildered, frustrated, forcing them to go and find better ways to fill their time. So Bungie has been left with the task of trying to reignite the flames, and what would they do you may think. Perhaps go back to the drawing board, take the time to listen to their audience and see what they want from the game. Maybe take the time to create a new pathway in the Destiny Universe, making a new vision for the future. Making sure to put in extra effort for whatever is next because you know this just may very well be the last chance you have to get it right... Or you can collaborate with another creatively bankrupt, soulless, down on it's luck Intellectual property and hope people are so numb to the idea that Destiny actually used to have its own identity just enough so they throw money at their screens and say "it'll be dumb fun", hooray 🎉 🎉 you have Destiny Renegades!!! And I don't care if it ends up making bank, I don't care if people enjoy it because it'll be a meaningless moment of pleasure that'll be so quickly forgotten that it's only purpose will be giving Destiny another year of slop production. This will be the Jurassic World Rebirth of gaming, quickl discarded and forgotten not even a month after it's plopped out in front of us. What a disgusting disgrace that these people are in charge of this game. You know this game used to have a soul? Used to mean something? And no it wasn't perfect, far from it but it had heart! Its universe, its world was alive, I could imagine it, put myself in its world that's how real they made it, the people before you. But you didn't value what was before you, you didn't see it for what it was, so... You killed it, not out of hatred but incompetence. At least with hatred you'd know why we actually cared for it. Screw you Bungie, you murdered my favorite thing out of pure stupidity.... how insulting that is.

  • I have to agree with you... Star wars and Destiny... once upon a time the idea of a crossover would've made me elated. But I haven't felt a spark within me for either series for a long time. I have a lot of stuff about Destiny that I could rant about but I don't want to overshadow your post so I'll just say that you are absolutely right, that Destiny has killed its identity. Destiny 1 wasn't the best but it felt like a living world with all the little details you'd miss if you weren't paying attention to. The world was mysterious and large, the raids weren't too hard and were fun. When D2 came along it also wasn't the best but I stuck with it. I will say my opinion (and it may not be popular) but the moment Destiny lost its soul was the reveal of the witness. Their design was not Destiny, and then lightfall took me out of the story entirely. The final shape, while better than lightfall was a bittersweet ending to a 10 year journey I had higher hopes for.
