I think The Deep is the opposite of the Pale Heart.
Pale Heart: Both a place and a presence shaped by whoever is in it.
The Deep: Both a place and a presence that reshapes and sharpens whoever is in it.
Thoughts on this?

So pure light is the ability to reshape the physical world. Pure darkness appears to the be the mind and consciousness. The deep then would be almost something like a dream world. Where nothing is “real” except in your own head. It would also explain why different beings could “commune” with the darkness if they were strong enough. The only reason the pale heart looks the way it does is the witness used darkness to shape the light energies of the traveler. Light is just natural chaos and energy. Darkness is control, desire, and intent.
