This was the final straw.
I’ve been playing Destiny 2 since it was released. I’ve stuck with it through good times and bad. Through awful updates and weeks of great fun.
Horrible developer decisions and some that actually were decent.
This latest offering is the last straw for me. I absolutely despise the new leveling system, the portal and the new armor 3.0
This game used to be fun for the most part even despite the devs doing their best to completely ignore the majority of their player base in favor of a handful of streamers.
I put up with a lot of nonsense with this game over the last decade and I’m sad to say, I’m done.
This game is just not fun anymore. Every update makes it even less so than before.
So long Destiny 2.

7 RepliesThere's so much that's ridiculous about this Edge of Fate. I'm 401 on Hunter and trying to do Liminality on Fireteam but the sheer amount of -blam!- debuffs is just killing it. Limited revives, every fireteam I've joined we've run out of them then died. The hellish timer, set for Youtube clowns that play the game for a living whilst advertising ball shavers. That's where we're at now. The melee inflicting chill, fair enough if it was just mobs doing it but at the bit in Liminality where you pick up the 2 orbs, run through the Indiana Jones style maze closing in on you and those blight geysers are applying chill, chill which slows you then you can't get out of the maze before it crushes you and you lose another revive. I get making things difficult but this is -blam!- ridiculous levels of bullshit. I've wasted an hour for basically nothing. What's the point of content that puts people off playing it? I don't get it.

I've been playing since this game launched with about 3500hrs of play time, own all the expansions, done a massive chunk of the titles etc, but EoF is the worst DLC they have ever released. The story was absolutely boring, matter spark annoying and Kepler feels so empty. The power level grind from 10/200 to 450 is absolutely insane, Since this game launched all those years ago I've had no issues reaching the max pinnacle cap on every update fairly quickly, that grind did take a while, but it was a hell of a lot faster than the current grind and was somewhat enjoyable, and this was across all three characters. The grind now is way too much, I'm at 322 currently, and I'm already burnt out, I would have reached my pinnacle cap long before now normally on all characters. The portal is good in theory but extremely poorly executed, you just grind the same missions over, and over and over until you literally can't take it anymore. The old original pinnacle system was far superior even if time gated, you at least had to do strikes, nightfalls, dungeons, raids, crucible and exotic missions, so there was always lots of variety and this made the game fun and made the grind way less painful. Now we just run the same missions in portal over and over for what? Tiny little light increases, it's just not worth it. The game world feels more dead than ever, which is ridiculous as you have plenty of locations to explore, but of course none of that gives you any gear to progress your light level so all of that is ignored. The game has so much content that has been removed over the years that they could have brought back for the portal, they could have rotated missions on say a 2 hourly basis so you at least had some variety. We have all these planets and content on them, so why aren't these being used for +1 or +2 drops, I wouldn't mind jumping from planet to planet doing the odd public event if they dropped loot that progressed my light level and I get to hang around locations with other guardians. This game after all these years just feels absolutely dead, in players and in content. And don't get me started on unstable cores, the cost to upgrade gear is astronomical, they get rid of upgrade cores which worked fine, and shards but then add this crap!. It can cost thousands to upgrade old gear if they are from a low light level, and as someone with 36 builds over the 3 characters, the cost horrific, so that's more grinding of the portal to get gear just to dismantle into cores. Unstable cores should have never been added, if they want to keep them, then the upgrade cost needs to drop by a good 80%.

I’m a day one player who’s top 1% in hours played and I can’t even force myself to play anymore it’s soul crushing how horrible these systems are and it’s sucked all the fun out of it and I’m so angry I just can’t do it anymore. I’m hoping they make some changes soon and I will still check out ash and iron but it’s not looking good.

1 ReplyThere was no need to change the armor stats. Changing the names does nothing. There was no need to introduce the Portal. The Portal does nothing the Director didn't do. Both are scrambled unconnected ways to get anywhere. We have the Director with a new name. Bungie does tis often. Rename something and call it content. Motes of Light? Now Orbs of Power. Why? Armor Build! The community wanted Armor Builds. Bungie introduced Armor Builds (sort of) Now, You have to have a particular build, or close to it, to do some activities. The success of the activut depends on the Build! It says on on the introduction toe the event! "Make sure you have the correct Build to attempt this activity!" Still two menus across the top of the screen, accessible by two buttons that you have to know about. Still buried in the D-Pad, various functions that are almost invisible on the screen. (Vault, Appearance.) No way to see what armor sets you have. No way to see how many Portal bonus drops you have. The whole menu system is a scrambled mess. A mess that the Porta adds to. Players say they have to watch Utube to see how to play. They also have to watch Utube to see how to navigate! Pale Heart has events that give no clue how to play them. Honestly, the whole navigation of the game looks like it was written by children, not grown adults who are SUPPOSED to know the principals of a GUI, or Text User Interface. They're Computer Engineers aren't they? I'm satisfied that the Teams are incompetent, and making a video game is beyond their ability.

7 RepliesI disagree with the armor complaint. I like the new armor. It is superior to the former in every sense. It allows for way higher stats than before and comes with added bonuses for a set or going over 100 stat. There is nothing negative about it. The only pain point is your tier being tied to your power and guardian rank.. rather than the difficulty of what you are playing. That is the main thing I would say sucks. Everything else is good, but you won't notice the improvements in stats if you had good armor before EOF until you at least start finding tier 3's. Exotic armor on the other hand is much worse than before. I'm still waiting for them to do something about the low stat drops I'm glad I saved high stat exotics from before EOF because all of them are better than what I get now. Leveling though yeah is really long and a big gap. They acknowledged they were going to change this though but I agree on that point. Portal I don't mind. I think as they add more variety in portal content it will continue to get better.

4 RepliesWell, from what has been stated, Pete Persons, the CEO, has resigned. IMO, usually a lot of the poor decisions made in gaming when developing a game, adding content, and so on start from the top, and it works its way down. The problem with this is, a lot of the poor decisions made in Destiny 2 are set in stone. The game took a major turn for the worse for a lot of gamers when making it became more difficult, more challenging for the same recycled rewards that leave the game feeling unrewarding for the time spent playing it. Some like that about Destiny 2, but it's a huge turnoff overall for most gamers when they feel their time is just being wasted, especially when there really is no progression, no reward for the time spent, and they are just constantly running the same activities that have become a shell of its former self. TBH, I do not envy the next CEO if it is someone who actually cares about developing a decent game. That isn't all about just pleasing the company and taking whatever they can from the player base. No, I don't play the game anymore, mainly because of all of the above, but it doesn't take brain surgery to see what has taken place, and Marathon is a prime example of what's wrong with Destiny 2 that doesn't sit well with millions of gamers. If a miracle happens, that this Bungie today actually wakes up and pulls their head out of the sand and starts making the game more for the gamers than themselves. Maybe I'll take an interest in playing again, but I'm not holding my breath.

I just picked it back up after a good break and I can't deal with it. Im not gonna no life this game just to get good gear. Leveling is horrible and slow. Been burnt too many times by this game, thinks it's time to finally hang it up for good. Hate to even say that because I have a lot of time and fun in this game but it's just not the same.

Got to say I'm in the same boat. Tried playing Friday evening turned it on and just said....no I'm done.....been playing this since 2014. Just straight up garbage now. Why even waste anymore time on this. Good luck with the ones that stick it out.

3 RepliesBorderlands 4. It cannot get here fast enough. I don’t dislike this game but it has been so much better. I hit 400 and it killed my enthusiasm. Solstice was a nice surprise but now the portal is pointless.
