We are quickly forgetting that this was at one time considered an MMO.
What happened, bungie? Patrols used to be fun and rewarding , and lost sectors used to cool hidden areas with decent rewards. Sunsetting and killing content is just pissing your player base off. It's so counterintuitive. The content is there. It's done, and it just needs to be polished again and updated a bit, but most of the work is done.
Suggestions to revitalize the solar system.
Patrollable world tiers - similar to Kepler, instances where enemies, patrols, and events are scalable to particular tiers but otherwise act as patrollable areas always have, with multiple gaurdians loaded onto the same areas.
Return of planetary vendors - vendors with unique reputations and rewards scaled to world tier difficulty.
Craftable lost sectors - much like how ops currently operate, you can craft an experience to get enhanced loot from lost sectors.
Unique lost sector loot - giving each lost sector a unique piece of armor ( belonging to a set) and/or a weapon that makes replaying lost sectors worthwhile
World events - think heroic events, but more in line with vex incursions. Massive events (on a rotating timer) that drop tons of mats, gear, and currency possibly with its own bounty system, as if we're hunting down the worst of the worst among sols threats.
Edit:
Rotating modifiers - unique to each patrol area, fun boons and challenges added, daily rotation

Great ideas. I think all content should be updated and revamped to incorporate the new system, while still maintaining what made the older systems good. The Pale Heart and Kepler are excellent patrol zones, as is the Dreaming City. The problem is, once you've gotten everything out of it, there's little reason to return. Kepler not having lost sectors is definitely a disappointment. Adding world tiers and customizable modifiers to the zones would be excellent.
