So, apparently, the game has decided that. Despite being 30 levels below, I need to do grand masters. Now I've done a couple GMs, I can get through them, but it's not optimal for farming, they take a bit longer.
On top of having to switch out of grandmaster every time I want to reload into an activity, it removes mods that aren't compatible with GM, so I have to reset those as well.
So, how about instead of the game trying telling me how I should play it let's me decide and stops screwing with my saved setup.

Edited by Meow Fairy: 8/14/2025 3:31:18 AMYeah i remember 300- 320....it was a nightmare to grind there. But as of today, you can abuse the infinite ammo bug from solstice. So take your ghorn or xenophage and go through k1/caldera or creation, mowing through ennemies. Light levels doesnt matter when you can spam your heavy weapon on everything. (After 320 you can basically farm GM ez mode until you are 450)

Edited by CORPERATE COMMANDER: 8/14/2025 1:42:02 AMBecause bungie thought catering to no life's like sonya loves Tyson and look how well that is going for them lmao . just quit until Sony takes over ,this company has proven countless times all they cater too are players that live on d2 which has been put across enough times to bungie the top% or d2 no lifers cannot keep the game afloat on there own and bungie is finally paying for not listening

I got tired of switching it back to master, and eventually just started running GM. The first few runs were marginally more difficult, but after gaining a couple levels of power, GM felt easier than master, thanks to needing fewer mods to hit B+. I get it - Bungie has been doing a terrible job in the UX department, but since they seem to hire based on social status instead of merit - it is best to find workarounds, rather than hope for improvements in the game, sadly.

From 300 to 400 do master with a B+ Rating, this will guarantee an A+ reward if done within time limit for solo ops Fire team ops same thing BUT if doing strikes killing Every Enemy to make score threshold is Vital to getting max score. During final boss clear adds first then DPS, more adds spawn stop dps on boss kill adds, then DPS boss again. The reason why players choose solo over FT Ops is because of these requirements to make the score threshold. If playing with friends pinnacle ops is the way. Grandmaster should be played when at 390 to 400 to be able to comfortably farm them. Ultimate is 440 to 450.

if u don't wanna do GMs then u simply don't?

Keeping your last settings would be a nice qol change. I don’t know if all the master modifiers are the same across solo, fireteam, pinnacle, or garbage ops. If they are, it would be nice to just be able to set your portal mods and they just apply to any activity you launch in to. (Barring the quickplay stuff.) The portal could just stay as you have it until you decide to change it. Then you just have to make minor tweaks for scores. I don’t completely understand people’s resistances to qol feedback. Having vault access anywhere is great and the in game fireteam finder is nice.

It's difficult and not efficient for a while when you switch difficulty tiers. I recall 300-320 being tough. However remember it's not master or GM from pre-EoF which were hard due to power delta and once you get a few levels, it becomes a chore but not difficult or time consuming at all. What the game also doesn't tell you explicitly is if you use all or most new gear you're scored higher. Using previous gear, add +10-30 combatant power to get same score. Should be a little easier this week due to solstice mods. There should be an activity + difficulty specific mods save, basic QoL given the game now revolves around repeatedly grinding 1-2 activities.

I believe you can just stick with Master all the way to 400.

How would it be any different if it was always set on base difficulty? I sort of get the annoyance of reseting mods but find it strange people who can't spare mere seconds to press a few buttons have the time to play videogames.

You can farm out master, I did. 😇👍💠
