Sometimes you get a perfect weapon early in the grind at tier 1 - 2 and it feels awful because you know you're going to want to grind it again at tier 5.
I think a system to upgrade tiers would be a great solution if done correctly.
First: this should NOT be a way of getting tier 5s for players who can't earn tier 5 gear. I'm going to ignore any comments from people who can't read and talk about handouts.
Now the actual suggestion.
Add an extra node next to the infusion node, hovering over it will bring up a menu very similar to the infusion one, but it only shows copies of the same weapon in your inventory
This will allow you to infuse a higher tier weapon into your lower tier weapon enhancing perks, barrels, mags, mods, and origin traits, BUT not adding any new ones.
For example, if you want to infuse a tier 1 agape with a tier 5 agape using this menu, your tier 1 would turn into a tier 5, get NO new perks but enhance current ones, and get the tier 5 ornament/everlasting sparks kill effect.
This can and should be expensive and cost enhancement cores/prisms/ascendant shards and alloys: with crafting/leveling/enhancing not being as big of a system in the game as it used to be I'm finding myself with more materials than I know what to do with and they're just going to my postmaster and getting deleted.

I've suggested the same thing in a whole long -blam!- post I made about how the fix the current system. Basically it boils down to giving players more agency by allowing them to invest resources they grind for into a weapon and upgrade it from T1 to T5. Player agency is extremely important for the longevity of the game. The more players feel they are in control of how they play and what they play with the more they'll enjoy the game. This is also why things such as the seasonal artifact and New Gear system are bad for the game because they dictate how you play and what you use.
