Renegades needs some sort of chill out mode.

The current paradigm is to push players into ever increasing levels of difficulty; The Sieve, our seasonal activity, can get pretty sweaty (I hate the sniper variation); Fireteam Ops are punishing at Master levels and above; there's not really a place for chill community play right now. This isn't a problem per se, lots of people love hard modes, but some of us come to video games to chill out and relax. Having everything be sweaty takes something away from the chill factor; chill modes can be fun. Dares of Eternity, just as an example, is not a very difficult activity, but it's fun. Our old event activities, like Bonfire Bash, weren't difficult, but they were fun. I'm not saying the activities need to be brain dead or anything like that, they can still be engaging, I'm just talking about a group play mode where people can go to unwind, just something less sweaty. Edit: And there's no reason the chill mode can't have a hard mode option, too, something for the players who like the sweat, I just wish there was something for the rest of us. Edit 2: Ten round Onslaught was chill. Edit 3: Alternatively, add some chill activities to the portal. Dares, Blind Well, ten round Onslaught, the Neomuna one I can't remember name of, Sorrow's Harbor, stuff like that. I don't know, y'all have the repository of this stuff. But, uh, maybe update the loot pools, too. Edit 4, loot: No, the loot doesn't have to be all Tier 5 god rolls, the activities could hand out Tier 2 and 3, with a small chance at Tier 4, and an infinitesimal chance at Tier 5. It wouldn't have to be top caliber stuff, top Tier, top light level, as long as it continued to provide some progression. It should have [b]good[/b] loot, of course, but no one is asking for an easy activity where Tier 5 loot rains like mana from heaven or anything.

    • Why we don't have a 6 man activity in the portal is beyond me. You have menagerie, sundial, plunder's activity, vex network activity, salvage. Matchmade versions for blind well, altar of sorrows, wellspring, overload.

      • Definitely. We need chill modes that also give good loot, but maybe drop the percentage of getting lower. Like 1% on chill mode and 3% on hard mode.

      • It's also really frustrating doing the power grind and now players are locked into the harder GM modes IF they want a B+ or A rank to get any loot. Start a fresh character and you can play power level 10, or 100 portal and easily get rank A which will guarantee a Solstice drop, but the higher you go the harder it is to get that same drop. The system needs some tweaks. I feel like Bungie saw raids 11% or lower completion rates and added the 6 player seasonal events in years past BUT it didn't massively make the game explode enough in popularity... well not enough "popularity for bungie managers". IMO the modes were great and many people played them but not Fortnite GTA numbers of people. Combine that with Datto's, Saltagreepo elites moaning how dumb and easy the 6 player modes were..... and now here we are. Game is all hardcore elite sweat mode

      • Ok the players of this game need to pick one or the other it can't be super easy and hard at the same time. If u want higher level things u need to be able to do harder content stop crying and play the game

        • I am not enjoying the current power/level progression. All it takes is one +1 change in your gear and the reward tier goes from -20 "A" rewards to -30 "B" tier rewards. We should be able to find our sweet spot within the game and stay there if we so desire. Some sort of soft cap would be nice if possible.

          • Whilst there's a level climb and a gear chase, the system is designed to work on an increasing difficulty setting. This isn't a crazy concept; want the best gear, then play the hardest stuff... but, this is destiny and rng is a thing, so it's perhaps not that simple. If you want a chill time, everything can be played at an easier level right now.... so in a chill mode, are you still expecting to get all the top loot? Nothing wrong with having other things to play, BTW, not knocking the idea of another mode at all.

              • Some more variety in activities would also be nice. Strikes are a given, but I think unvaulting some past seasonal activities would also be a good change. The Black Armory Forges would be my top pick. Simple, fast, and would certainly be challenging with Banes and Champions added.

              • Nah, we can't have that. The game [b]needs[/b] to be like a shittier diablo clone with modifiers, banes and champions everywhere and multiple difficulties that split the playerbase. I like how Destiny has essentially copied Minecraft Dungeons beat for beat with EoF and still manages to do everything it does but worse.

              • Every planet desperately needs its very own unique open event such as: -Neomuna -Sorrow’s Harbor -The Blind Well No que’s. No matchmaking. No LFG. Just fun, engaging, planetary awesomeness. Dares of Eternity is also great. Maybe more unique 3 rounders hosted by the main storyline NPCs. It’s not only fun, but it’s a great way to run buildcrafts and compete in a non sweaty way with other guardians. Less rinse and repeat on level grind season madness and more gunplay, buildcraft, planets.

                  • I think it's already planned. EoF raised the grind and difficulty to 11. Just before Renegades drops, we'll get a "we hear you" and Renegades will release casual friendly. In large part because the Star Wars crossover may bring in brand new players in droves. This will anger the hardcore but they will have been replaced by much easier (aka less expensive) to please players. At that point D2 is going to be all about events and battle passes. With the occasional DLC crossovers with characters from Sony IPs. At least that's what I'd do in Sony's shoes.

                    • I have to disagree on Fireteam Ops being punishing at Master. I haven't reached Grandmaster yet but Master is a breeze with a Fireteam compared to Pre-Edge of Fate. The main issue is the time investment, especially doing Master Solo Ops. What's punishing is Expert Zero Hour solo. That's more difficult then anything the Portal has to offer on Master. BUT I agree with you on a chill new activity for Renegades. Knowing that Bungie is taking inspiration from the space western vibes of Star Wars and the fact that they said something along the lines of ''New lawless frontier'' made me think of sitting around a table at a tavern with fellow Guardians playing some card game.

                            • Fireteam ops playlist get sweaty, but if u run the customize mode you can over level very easily. Earlier I couldn’t find randoms who could do the GM version of a strike because were -40, but I swapped to the custom mode and did it solo because I was 20 power above the activity. Very weird
