Sometimes you get a perfect weapon early in the grind at tier 1 - 2 and it feels awful because you know you're going to want to grind it again at tier 5.
I think a system to upgrade tiers would be a great solution if done correctly.
First: this should NOT be a way of getting tier 5s for players who can't earn tier 5 gear. I'm going to ignore any comments from people who can't read and talk about handouts.
Now the actual suggestion.
Add an extra node next to the infusion node, hovering over it will bring up a menu very similar to the infusion one, but it only shows copies of the same weapon in your inventory
This will allow you to infuse a higher tier weapon into your lower tier weapon enhancing perks, barrels, mags, mods, and origin traits, BUT not adding any new ones.
For example, if you want to infuse a tier 1 agape with a tier 5 agape using this menu, your tier 1 would turn into a tier 5, get NO new perks but enhance current ones, and get the tier 5 ornament/everlasting sparks kill effect.
This can and should be expensive and cost enhancement cores/prisms/ascendant shards and alloys: with crafting/leveling/enhancing not being as big of a system in the game as it used to be I'm finding myself with more materials than I know what to do with and they're just going to my postmaster and getting deleted.

The point of tier system is to incentivize the grind. The point of extremely slow and latched light level is to incentivize the grid. The point of the light level reset is to incentivize the grind. See a pattern here? There are things that could be done to allow more variety of gameplay. Things such as adjusting material drops. Moving the XP up or down. Even releasing new forged weapon frames. I would complain more if I saw more Guardians with T5. But giving away T5 is a big NO. Earn it. May be elitism, but I will respect the time commitment. But only if it stays that way.

first off all, no good idear. if you want tier 5, just work towards it. eventually you will get it, and you will delete that lower tier with pleasure. there are no "bad" tier 5 weapons. or you have to be very unlucky. if you are 200 - 300, solstice will drop tier 4 weapons. 300 - 400 solstice will drop tier 5. just play the game you want it to play and the drops will come. so upgrading to a next tier is not neccesary i think. first let the cost of unstable cores be looked at as that is way way to high at higher power levels.

This is fair. I personally was thinking letting players just infuse gear up 1 tier only. I mean: T2 is literally just an enhanced T1 T3 is just T2 with better RNG T4 is just T3, but enhanced further via the barrel and mag And T5 is just T4, but better RNG I don't see the harm in letting players upgrade their gear just once.

As long as the cost to do so is ridiculously expensive.

I've always thought that crafting was the solution to build your gun...so if you find a good T1 you can upgrade it as thin goes and with mats and gun Lv thresholds ECT to promote play through tangible and invested rewards...

I've suggested the same thing in a whole long -blam!- post I made about how the fix the current system. Basically it boils down to giving players more agency by allowing them to invest resources they grind for into a weapon and upgrade it from T1 to T5. Player agency is extremely important for the longevity of the game. The more players feel they are in control of how they play and what they play with the more they'll enjoy the game. This is also why things such as the seasonal artifact and New Gear system are bad for the game because they dictate how you play and what you use.

They should just change the Enclave from a crafting location to an enhancement location. Make it so that every time you get, say, 5 weapons of a certain tier, you can upgrade one weapon up to that tier.

Nothing so far. Only solstice. Still level 1 gain or none at all on other weapons. Bungie did not fix anything on level gains. I am not wasting time on grinds.

I wouldn’t mind if they even made it extra grindy or something. That way lower tier loot wouldn’t feel as bad when it drops.

Edited by TeKnoVKNG23: 8/12/2025 6:55:00 PMI want this just because out of all the T5s I've had drop of the solstice SMG, my T3 roll is still better than any of them. We need systems in place for when RNG complete F's us over and over again.

Kind defeats the purpose of tiers 2 and 3 if I can just upgrade a tier one gun to fully enhanced. Also if you did this and made the cost any kind of expensive, people would pee themselves because they don't play the content that gets them alloys or shards all that often, if ever. I feel like the crowd that needs enhanceable tier 1-2 weapons would be the same crowd that doesn't have a ton of materials to spend enhancing things so they'd be back to grinding anyways, but for endgame materials instead of weapon rolls. I don't think they should allow this, but I do think they should put ways for lower-rank/level guardians to, either by rare chance or long grind or both, get tier 4/5 drops. For instance, currently, every 20 runs of portal (at most) you'll get a piece of gear one tier above your max, or tier 5 if you're at max. Maybe they expand that to be ANY tier above and not just one tier above or maybe they layer a 30-40 run thing on top of it all that gives you a tier 5 piece, guaranteed, for grinding that out.
