I don’t have anything to chase without crafting

I genuinely never cared for grinding specific rolls, because I like having free time for other games. So, now that I have no red borders, I have less reason to play. Not even sure I’ll play Solstice after finishing the armor set, tbh

Crafting should have been expanded upon rather than abandoned. Random rolls are a relic of D1 and should have remained there.

    • I miss it too. I'm one of those that chases stuff so I can do fun things with friends. I don't chase just for the sake of loot itself. I got over that whole "god roll" nonsense years ago as there isn't one. There's just some combos that work better for a playstyle and build than others, with some builds having make or break perks attached. Crafting let me mess around with it much more than this current disposable loot system.

    • Crafting was a miss. They could have made it so much better. It was too easy the way they had it and it trivialized all loot until they made new weapons enhanceable. You should have had to break down weapons to unlock crafting mods for individual weapons. It would promote still farming weapons to break down and unlock mods but if you get your god roll along the way, you no longer need to craft.

    • I wouldn't say I have "nothing" to chase, but I do miss red borders, I miss a weapon feeling like it was "mine." I still favor crafted weapons, I liked feeling like leveling up my weapons provided a return on investment, I liked being able to consolidate my Vault space by not having to chase multiple rolls, and frankly it felt like a natural expansion of the build crafting system. Tier 4s and Tier 5s are a nice treat, but they don't really feel the same to me. There's still stuff to chase, it just isn't quite as satisfying as crafting.

      • I really liked weapon crafting. I'm still using my own "developed" weapons over the new ones. Crafting was a perfect introduction to educating oneself on the synergy and effectivity of perks. Bungie should've gone in the same direction with armor.

      • crafted guns let me have the roll that was my god tier roll. i would rather have four of the same gun than one gun with five perks i find stupid and one perk i really wanted and i never saw again.

      • The best thing about crafting, that so many a willfully ignoring , it frees up vault space. If I can craft a gun I want for each possible build, I no longer need to hang on to multiple copies of guns with specific perk roles.

      • Same really, ever since they culled crafting for stuff, my drive to play has dropped and now the only things I focus on is to max out my seasonal pass and finish the story. Was crafting as it was too generous? Yeah I could probably see that when you could get a free red border every week but crafting in itself wasn't a bad idea it just needed some tweaking. Still haven't seen anything on that whole 'catch-up' bs they spouted either so either they are dragging their feet on it like they do a lot of things or it was just them talking out their -blam!- to in a lazy attempt to quell the people who liked crafting.

        • Crafting killed the grind, it had most people only play long enough to get the weapons crafted then they stopped playing till the next season. Personally I get why they removed it if people aren't playing then they aren't as likely to buy crap from eververse. Plus if you've already got the best weapons from crafting why preorder the next expansion, why grind the new stuff. When your old crap is still outperforming the new stuff in every way there's no reason to care. So the tier system was made to make crafting obsolete plain and simple.

          • Crafting allowed me to personalize and fine tune guns without having to lean into someone else's gun, I could just build a gun to my own preference and specs. The plus side to not having crafting is no new gun is sacred to me and I can delete or infuse as many into old gear as I want. I see two sides here, but I preferred the crafting. Just let us craft everything in Collections aside from new guns, let us fine tune and add origin traits to guns that people haven't heard about in years, I want to build that Thin Line or Redrix Broadsword with relevant perks and origin traits. Oh well, at least I can delete anything new I don't use or want.

          • 100% agree. Red borders provide some sense of progress. Not saying you should get red borders just for showing up weekly but completing raids/dungeons should definitely give patterns even if limited per week. However Bungie's removal of any deepsight harmonizers with no other known way of getting them in-game tells a different story. This week encore has been added to legacy exotic rotator but apparently no QA was done as the mission drops zilch, not even glimmer

            • Inb4 some Cartman WoW episode like person with no life comments… “ Some of us like to have a reason to play the game. Crafting took that away “. As if anyone could justify taking away the most player friendly systems for a worse one. Justified by straight up losers who are addicted to gaming.

This is the part where the vocal minority demonstrates that they have to exploit themselves with reward and level throttling to play the game, which reveals that they seem to enjoy gambling more than the actual combat gameplay. Playing the game basically by virtue of the combat alone > exploiting yourself through loot and number go up throttling to keep playing “I stop playing when I get what I want” is the dumbest, most antithetical mentality I’ve ever seen when it comes to this.

              • I believe that crafting has a place in the game, and shouldn't be discarded. It provides a concrete reward for time investment. All raid and dungeon weapons should be craftable. A select number of expansion weapons should be craftable. I don't always use craftable weapons. I'm fact, I have random drops that outclass a Lot of them. But it is a good baseline to have, especially for people who need solid goals that aren't entirely gated behind rng.

              • But like, why? Just get a decent roll on some weapons, like it’s not that hard. Especially if you’re pretty casual it’s unlikely you’re looking for a perfect 5/5

                  • I wouldn't say nothing I loved crafting but I've already accented it won't comeback for a bit. But for the most part I have a lack for things to grind for. I like the new armor perks but damn im kinda mad the raid and dungeons don't have armor perks yet. I also hope they update last year's weapons and give them newer perks

                    • Completing weapon patterns is timegated due to stuff only guaranteed to drop once per week per character. The community hates timegating, goodbye crafting! It was a nice change, but not having to level up the weps is refreshing.
