Feels like 4/5 games are blowouts. I’m an above average player so usually my Control sessions feel like 3 Losses where we had no chance, 1 close game W or L, and 1 W where we mercy them.
Lobby balancing has generally felt bad for me for the past few years when the mm started to get constantly tinkered with but it had moments where it was bearable. Since EoF though, Control feels like it’s non-stop frustration.
The handful of games of comp I’ve played have felt fun. Haven’t done Trials yet but looking forward to soon as that has always felt rewarding to me. Maybe Control is not meant for players like me anymore? Maybe Bungie wants players like me herded toward comp/trials. That would suck cause I love to casually play PvP in a normal sandbox but I guess if I want a casual mode I gotta play the party mode :(
Edit #1: I won’t lie, after I made this post, the majority of my Control games have felt pretty fun LOL. Maybe ya just gotta complain on the forums to get good matchmaking XD

So many matches I play are so divided in skill that my whole team usually just dips and I’m the only one facing a 6 man squad.

Edited by Golden: 8/11/2025 4:55:52 AMSomething’s definitely off with the matchmaking in Control. Every game is a sweat fest of people holding hands, playing like their life is on the line, high KD enemy players on the enemy team while putting the most potato Jims on your team. Even trials and comp are less sweaty than control right now 💀

Because now laggers play against laggers, too. Now many "top" players see how it is for the most other players, when your bullets don't do normal damage, bad hit registration, lag, etc.

Or the new account newbs one shotting from across the map.

This is what happens when people are matched based on anything other than skill. The sweatys don't want to have to fight for their wins, so they don't like skill based matchmaking. They get off on steamrolling people of a lower skill level. Bungie has been pandering to them for years. If you go back and watch some streams from when there was skill based matchmaking, you can see the sweatys crying about having to work for their loot. Put them up against somebody who can put up a fight, and they throw a fit.

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER: The player base keeps dwindling and it’s left basically no room for casuals which drove the majority of them away as well! This has basically led into a playerbase that only has two types of players, those dedicated to either PvP or PvE and a smaller group of casuals/average players. TL;DR: Matches are bad,too little people, either sweat or suffer.

Possibly player number issue, PvP is very quiet right now & it's battlefield 6 open beta weekend which has hit record numbers - even higher than cods highest ever peak - so it's drained every games numbers
