I am an older guy that really enjoys your game. That said, my rank is 7 and have 350 points and find myself maxed out. I do not enjoy your higher tier things they are just too difficult for me. Tried to play a master tier fireteam op and was quickly reminded why I prefer playing solo. Could not do my fair share and one of my teammates was pissed hitting me and shooting at me. Can play solo ops master tier with a B grade which only gives me one point which I find a bit silly.

They definitely missed

You were never required to do master or grand before to level up and get good guns. Now you do. Grandmaster nightfalls have only been done by 7.5 percent of the population. Someone at Bungie has brain damage

Wait till you hit 400 GM, I'm currently 407 iMO when you hit 400 I personally think you should slow down and actually try to get a sold endgame build going because GM lvl no joke solo and pinnacle especially if you are trying to get A rating. Honestly I'm also no fan of the tier system because once you get a higher tier below it becomes trash to you no matter if it's Tier 3. the only thing I give portal props for is that it helped me improve my skills and builds greatly in all three modes.

Edited by Stalkholm: 8/10/2025 10:07:02 PMI'm running into the same problem, I feel like I've risen to the (Light) level of my incompetence. I can clear Expert pretty easily, I can do Solo Master pretty easily, but I'm a liability in Master level Fireteam Ops; I die more than my other teammates, I kill less than my other teammates, I'm definitely not holding my own - but Master level is where Bungie wants me to play to keep advancing. I don't know if this is a problem per se, or if I've just reached the end of my journey for this Expansion pack. Running Expert level content at 300+ feels like a waste of time, while running Master level Fireteam ops feels like an impossibility. (I know Master level isn't impossible, I've muddled through a few thanks to quick rezzes from teammates, but I'm definitely out of my depth.) Really, I'm not sure what to do, now. Bungie really wants me in Master level, but I'm really not a Master level player; I don't want to stop playing, but it feels like I've gone as far as I can go right now. Edit: To be clear, this isn't about wanting a handout, it's about wanting a place to play. If I'm better than Expert level, but not good enough for Master level, that doesn't leave a lot of stuff for me to do; if the rewards in Expert aren't rewarding, and the rewards in Master aren't accessible (due to my skill, admittedly) then I've kind of done all I can for the moment. Someone else suggested I level my other characters through the campaign, so I'll probably do that, it's just frustrating that my main is at the end of the line for the time being.

They talked to read the room.

Stop raising your light level.
-
If you dont like the higher tier activities than you dont need to worry about your power level
-

If you hit your max you hit your max. I guess the complaint is you’re forced into master content for matchmaking? I will be an ultimate player when that comes out and that excites me. Bungie has the harder stuff for us and the easier for you and that’s fine because we al leave content to play. I can say that for longevity, if you’re capped out too fast and already have all the gear you want, they missed the mark if they want you in the game for 3 months straight.
-
Wait so are you mad that harder content is the most rewarding?
-
Yeah expert is already starting to grind my gears & I'm barely in the 200s. It sucks too because all the bonus drops are tied to doing the hardest activities you have access to.
-
And how did all these changes help? Everyone who complained about advancing too fast and that things were too easy ended up getting to 450 in a couple weeks anyway. They bought themselves a couple extra days before they could start complaining again.
