I'm a OG D1 player... 6600 hours into D2. Obviously 1 of my favorite games. Power system The higher I get the more restrictive it feels and the less powerful I feel. If I want to play with friends or my wife we need to be close in power or the A B C reward system breaks. Example.. I start setting things for A tier and wife's tier goes from B to C while mine goes from B to A. I'm like 260 she is like 220. So we have to choose who gets rewarded for the run. Difficulty I love a good challenge. For me it's great if I get stomped and then have to figure out how to build different to overcome the challenge. But more health doesn't necessarily mean more challenge. I get it's a hard problem to solve. On the other side it's kinda like having steak every day for every meal. Steak is really good but you will stop enjoying it if that's all you eat. For some of my friends and wife that's not what their here for. They want to have fun shooting aliens in the face while laughing and having fun. For them playing now is reading a laundry list of negative modifiers, positive modifiers and trying to decipher what loot they will get out of it. It's not fun for them It's too much difficulty for them sometimes. Them dieing 6 - 7 times to get a plus 3 power on 1 piece of gear isn't fun. Build Diversity The list of Exotics and featured gear takes away from build crafting. If you don't use this gear and this gun you get a lower score and will do less damage and less reward. Not fun It also feels like a soft sunset. That gun you like and got 6 months ago does less damage and will cost you thousands to infuse up to power. Far to punishing just keep the build I have made. Some builds revolve around specific guns with specific perks and if I grind to get those guns it should penalize me for wanting to use it. Activity diversity All old raids, dungeons and nightfalls are not part of this huge power grind and are not part of any featured play system and are not part of the tier system. That's a huge chunk of the game to exclude. With no formal seasonal activity either it's very repetitive. Rewards The tier system makes all of my NEW stuff feel obsolete because I know my tier 1,2, 3 and even 4 stuff will be replaced when I'm high enough power to get tier 5 stuff. When I finally do get tier 5 loot it will only be good for a few months then next dlc it's considered old gear so less damage and less score so lower rewards all over again This feels like such an empty grind. Stats rework This is great for build crafting. Love that all stats matter nothing wasted. The presets do make it limited though. Would like to pick primary, and secondary stats on my ghost to focus on. Conclusion For me D2 is one of the best games ever. This expansion however doesn't feel very D2. I know y'all can and have brought it back in the past. D2 started out pretty rough. Some highs and lows through the years. This is the lowest it's been. We desperately need some changes Hopefully y'all take a step back and remember what makes this game fun for all and that this is a social game for friends and family as well.
