I watched a video yesterday regarding how the Solstice event is handing out "super rewards", i.e. tier 5 armour and weapons.
Great, I thought.
But then, the catch.....
IF you have hit level 400, IF you are at guardian rank 9, IF you are able to grind this game 12 hours a day, 7 days a week on an industrial scale......then there might be something to get excited about.
I'm currently sitting at power level 232, guardian rank 6 and I've played every day since this abomination launched.
There are some guardians who just cannot do this and it seems that Bungie are rubbing salt in the wounds of those who have families and full time work commitments.
When they said they would reward players for their playtime, they didn't say it only applied to streamers and the top few percentage of elites who play Destiny for a living.
It's like giving millionaires the winning lottery numbers AND paying for their tickets.

FWIW: just by playing the game - up to final campaign mission on normal mode, on my W, got me up to around LL230 / GR6. I then switched to my T because I was in no hurry to do that final mission…and just by playing the game, I’m now close to LL300… Scorch Crucible is a blast…and the loot is good. As are Solo Op missions (Caldera)…I’ve even done Master runs…though that’s above my actual pay grade! 😁 I’m not actively ‘chasing’ anything…just playing the game the way I want to…of the options available…and I’m still pacing my way through the campaign on normal mode, on my T… Eventually, I’ll get my H through the campaign trail, too…and maybe do a Legend run thereafter…but, like an old tortoise - there’s no hurry! 😁 Get some in…or don’t. ✅👻❌ That is all. Ease Springs! 🖖

The streamers are all posting on X their tier 5 builds, they are desperate to crank up the fomo during solstice.
-
You don't need to be 400+ power to get tier 4 or 5 rewards for the event. I'm reaching 330, and I have many Tier 4 items, including the guns.
-
Hard to argue with any of this. Good post.

Can the t5 armor drop at 300? The holofoil is what makes the weapons drop when you're not 400. How does the armor work? Also do the Solstice weapons have the unique t5 shader (not holofoil)? If so what's it look like?
-
Are t5's still dropping under 400? Bungie said Solstice drops at +1 and holos at another +1. Well I'm 300 and G8 and my first holo just now was t4. Or maybe it was because I got a B in team ops 🤷♂️

It was a terrible idea to scale rewards to playtime

I never leave the Zamboni - old
I’m even more glad I got a refund two days after release. I’m officially moving on after a couple months of regular play. Games uninstalled. Gonna play other stuff and hope battlefield is good. Hopefully there’s some changes in Ash an Iron. See you all around then. GL with the grind. -
l hate this game now. l gave it a try got to 328 . it's just to unrewarding to grind over and over old content, then sweat it out in solo Playlist running very hard tier A modifiers just for a tiny power in 1 slot . And for those that don't know once you hit 300 the grinders slower and the content is for sweats. not fun .l wouldn't be surprised if bungie don't make major changes ,cause if they don't this game is cooked.

RIGHT!!!! Some of us do have lives and can't play 24/7 (whines he who has well over 9000 hours played since D1 released) but dang I HATE what D2 has become with EoF I have almost zero desire to run anything more just to get high tier gear knowing that as you go up the harder it gets because the more mods you have to add to get mod-gated A/B/C potential rewards also knowing that the fight above 200 just gets rewarded with loosing that progress in just a couple of months from starting. WHAT THE LIVING HECK IS THE POINT IN PLAYING ANYMORE - seriously I have nothing to make me want to play anymore other then getting a few seasonal ranking up to get the SR's catalyst. Again please tell me what can help me still love this game - again well over 9000 hours played I obviously loveD the grind but not in this state! True Solstice gives slightly boosted gear which only truly helps a rare few and Solstice is just mods and running PvP - not a fan of Scorched, Mayhem maybe not Scorched. Wheres Bonfire, at least that gave me something fun to do and with Solstice mods it would have been fun! But noooooooo Bungo just keeps tell me - F-OFF find something else that's actually fun!

Edited by Grim: 8/7/2025 2:50:49 AMThey need to post the setup GR5 and 200 to 250 power to get tier 3 gear GR7 and 300 to 350 power to get tier 4 gear GR9 and 400 to 450 power to get tier 5 gear But the real problem is that most basement dwelling streamers and the top 1% players that got the tier 5 gear cheated and farmed that one pinnacle mission to get max power even before the raid came out. But bungie just conveniently found out and removed it before anyone else could do it. The game is rigged in the 1% favor and it's never been more apparent then now.

Edited by Pope, Defiler of Bed Linen: 8/7/2025 7:47:51 AMive heard the same type of criticism over and over for years and nothing ever gets through to them. i suffer from low functioning autism, my wife and* her son are also autistic. he is 25+ years old and the same thing thats been happening here on destiny 2 all these years is more of the same thats happening here at home. we tell her son to clean up after his messes in the house like pushing his chair in at the table, to throw away his coffee pod from the coffee maker, to wash his own plate and dont leave it just sitting at the table after he gets done eating, etc. explaining things profusely, very basic things, and we have to tell him over and over again.. complaining and complaining at least three or four times a week for years and nothing ever gets through. to put it simply, i know autism when i see it spewing this mess all over forums, expressing your concerns and sharing feedback in any way never actually ever really changes anything here. its just the same poor communication, bad decision making, poor handling of financials, over and over again. i think its just ego or poor communication skills. either way, if they were smart they would work along with a handpicked select few players thats played the game since the very beginning and knows the ins and outs of everything most players want and dont want in destiny 2 to better help with communication because its obvious, theyre just not getting it. non-content creators obviously because they are biased and nearly all of them wont actually speak the truth of how poor this game is being run because streaming this game is their job, and are friends with several bungie employees and also badmouthing just might lose them advantages such as being invited for early playtests and receiving emblem codes for giveaways, etc.

310 gaurdian rank 6 or 7 and I've been consistently getting teir 4 and 5s
-
This is garbage! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!
-
Don’t worry eventually they’ll go back to LL 200 and do it all over again and again and again 🤣
-
I got two tier 4s on Tuesday. I’ve got nothing but tier 2s, and a handful of tier 3s today. A lot of tier 1s also. Total waste of time.
-
Well what do you expect? Bungie's fan bois are on here everyday saying you have to work for it. This echos bungie's own working system where harder is better, more grind is better, despite to obvious financial trouble the company is in. Fun and engaging, makes players want to spend time in the game world. More players means more micro transactions, more play time, more good publicity, more money. MORE of everything! Everything that this expansion will NOT get them.
-
And even then they are handing out armor in stats u don't want because ghost mods either don't work or are so negligible that they might as well not be equipped. Congrats on ur 20+ tier 5 armor that u will never use cause the stats are not where u want them lol
-
Edited by NerfPaladins06: 8/7/2025 1:10:23 AMI'm genuinely baffled why you can only get up to tier 4 in the event shop. I was 100% certain they'd fix this because they want people to buy reroll chips to get more engrams. Guess keeping people on the hamster wheel is more profitable than reroll chips.

Worst Solstice ive played, i already gave up.

Edited by jhermannITJ: 8/6/2025 11:51:14 PMThen how was I getting Tier 5s under 400? How was I getting tier 5s at rank 8. I made 400 in probably about 50 hrs over 3 weeks and one day. My longest sessions were I played for about 6 hrs last night and 6 hrs last Saturday going from 315 to 375 last week in total. And one night I did the whole legendary campaign in one sitting minus the last 2 missions on my second character... which took about 6 hrs. I probably have 20 hrs in the campaign and on Kepler... So that's 30-40 hrs to hit 400. Because the campaigns did not level me. Until yesterday I never played Caldera once. I've still only played Encore 3 times. The solo Ops I repeated most was Conflux... and it wasn't optimal or as good as mixing things up. Something I tested again yesterday with Caldera... my progress was slow until I started targeting slots again... then I easily made 400. Then I blued up my other characters, I did use the armor quest on my Hunter... but both my W&T still have to do it... meaning at least 10 primes off the bat...not 100% on that, but I heard those drops level post 400. Thems the deets, an overview of my easy grind to 400. 😇👍💠

The rewards match what you put into the game thus far. Im 252 and am getting some amazing tier 3 weapons from Solstice. Stop comparing and just play at your own pace. There's 5 more months of this expansion. It's not a race to the finish.

-
Fake news! My clan mate is 300 something power and guardian rank 7 and gets tier 5. He doesn’t get it every run like the 400 power rank 9. But he still gets them as he grinds.
-
Well that's the reason why last week I grinded from rank 7 to rank 9 in 1 week so I won't Miss out on these kind of rewards. Since I pretty much got everything in my vault and all my characters tier 4 and up I'm just not going to grind next season unless they introduce some better gear sets. Yeah the power resets each season and our new gear bonus has reset but the perks on the new gear does not disappear and that would include our stats as well. I just see that as like more of a benefit because if you wanted to lessen next season to reach 550 if you have stuff from season of reclamation you're gonna be able to grind pretty quicker on harder content. As we know that is bungie's theme make the game harder but don't give us better rewards that's why I'm less hopeful that the next few seasons that we probably won't get like a crazy amount of new gear sets..
