We can’t get more powerful all the time. The old system showed this: when we got new perks (for example heal clip, jolting FB and such), there was no reason to grind more or use anything else. Just chase that specific god roll, become maybe frustrated towards RNG, and most HC people grinding ”backup god rolls” just in case something gets buffed…
Argument I see is that it is pointless to power level because things reset back to 200. Now how is it pointless? Tier 5 weapons will still have triple enhanced perks. Tier 5 armor will still have 100 stat points AND set bonuses available. You can still infuse them back to higher PL if you wish to.
ONLY limitation with the new system is that some activities force you to use new featured gear (avant garde).
Most will still want to get the new armors and guns, if they will be good. Waht you have grinded now, will still be absolutely good and relevant maybe outside epic/contest modes, where you really need the extra damage at least.
I have already deleted all my titan OLD armor, except the old exotics. New armor is so much better and benefits into building specific stat or two is absolutely huge. As soon as I start leveling my hunter and warlock I will do the same. New armor makes you so much more powerful.
I have also started to delete old weapons. I never had the hoarding / vault issue, and now even less. There will be maybe 20-25 guns that I keep (old ones), but I don’t see any point keeping most of them. I have run already trials flawless this weekend and new raid couple of times, all with new guns only.
I think like I put in the title, this new system feels great. Old stuff is not obsolete, yet new stuff is better. And grinding doesn’t make new stuff bad when next reset happens.
