I consider myself a casual player now due to working graveyard shift. I have maybe a few hours to play most days. These are my thoughts and opinions.
Story: I was not invested in the story till the Ikora cutscene. Not that it was bad but it didnt really grab my attention till then. I still have to go back and play it again but I will be paying more attention to understand what is happening and where it might take us.
The portal: I did not like the portal at first but now I do. it saves time when I don't have much time to play. I like the modifiers and different difficulties. I can feel a sense of growing power as I play and I enjoy that.
Solo ops: I enjoy this the most currently because I get to see how powerful my character can be and I can learn more about my character as I play to include movements, aim, abilities, and the way stats affect my character progression and builds. I also enjoy having a place to test out different builds while earning xp and rewards.
Fireteam ops: I enjoy this mode due to the activities and ad density. The maps feel big enough for 3 people but small enough to enjoy working with others to create chaos. Many builds compliment eachother so many times I find myself smiling when slaying out with others. I like the rewards and the modifiers in higher difficulties because it keeps it interesting.
Pinnacle ops: I like these activities due to being able to do them solo and with a fireteam. I like how I get to see myself progress when doing them solo and that I get multiple chances to keep going. I haven't made it past master yet so for right now its fun to me. The activities variety is pretty good, I think all Pinnacle activities should be added that way if there is a dungeon or raid I want to do i can pick it from there.
Armor: This is one of my favorite changes. I really enjoy the armor changes with the tier system and sets and stat changes.
Currently I have a Hunter just below 300 power level with Bushido armor set and the Morai exotic piece on. I am running triple 100s stats and am only using tier 3 gear. I have my melee back constantly and my class dodge back constantly as well. In this armor sets I focus around whirling malstrom and being able to have multiplegoing at once. the melee throw retrieves the strand ball and brings it back but also causes a detonation so at one time I have two strand malstroms going on. Normally ill have about 4 or 5 going constantly when doing this and its very satisfying to see the ad control and damage put out while being able to survive. I use the exotic strand bow to suspend, to gain health back, gain resistance, and to trigger a game flow that is constantly having me moving and slaying out. I am excited to see what happens when I have tier 5 gear.
Weapons:I have enjoyed the weapons that I have used so far. The exotic scout is busted but only the sniper shot which I think is good. If you take your time it can clear a room really fast. Im excited to make a invisible hunter build trying this scout. it rewards you for crits and makes it a good addition to any gameplay loop. I have not tried the handcannon much but I have yet to complete the catalyst so I am waiting for those first. I think a good Hunter freeze, amplify build will make good use of it.
Currently I am running the handcannon shotgun and as a hunter it fits nicely especially when using a strand bow. I have one two punch and barrel constrictor and it works really well when combined with the linear fusion with binary orbit. I hit a boss or a major with the shotgun, throw my melee so it kills some ads near them and hits the boss, then I switch to my linear and rip into him with multiple shots melting his health. while also having whirling malstom going so I keep the consistent damage buff going. This game play loop has been enjoyable.
Raid: The raid looks good and the mechanics aren't hard to learn. I enjoyed that when someone messes up, there is a windows of recovery if your team is fast enough. The bosses have too much health but its being addressed so I can't complain about that. Also having a good build that clears ads well and does good boss damage is what I found in the raid. I feel that raids are the Pinnacle content and should be challenging and push you to improve if its kicking your butt. I redid my build because I realized this and next time I think I will be able to contribute better.
So far this is all I have for stuff I have enjoyed. I do not have many issues like others do but like I said I casually play now. I might have missed somethings but if anyone wants my opinion on anything just let me know and I will answer the best I can.
Overall I am enjoying this new Destiny and the way its going.

I always preferred the 2nd/3rd shifts, very much a night owl.
