The Grind to 450+ and being Reset to 200 is a Bad Design Decision.
Say you make it to 450. Get all your tier 5 loot you wanted. Next season rolls out.. Bam! Your reset to 200. And the new grind continues. So what was wasted? Your time and energy, not to mention tons of resources. We know the current state of using unstable cores to upgrade is ridiculous. 8k for one piece is just unbalanced and unfair in terms of player investment over the outcome.
With the grind, investment, and time commitment in getting to the cap. You will barely have time to enjoy your loot before you are reset. Honestly, the whole system feels like punishment and a chore instead of a grind. When we grind to get good rewards and be capped to feel powerful. Than we should only continue to grow in power. I think instead of resetting us raise the cap by 200 each season.
As for the casual playerbase. They'll have no reason to stay because they will be physically and mentally exhausted by this grind. And none of them will reach the cap..
Portal is a good idea, but we need a plethora of content to sustain it, and not too mention increase the completion drops by atleast 3x on all activities.
The World Tab needs to be updated to include all Tier 5 gear and weapons to help with the grind and excitement to farm them again.
I'm inbetween on how I feel about this whole change. They said they wanted to bring us Quality of Life changes to Destiny. Well, I can say this feels more like Dimishing Returns of My Investment. And this is where I might get off the Destiny train for good. None of it feels rewarding because the commitment doesn't feel onpar for what I have to do. I hope this wasn't their over arching decision to keep player retention. Because they will definitely move on if this system doesn't get improved.
Personally, I'm tired of getting reset every year.. been tired of it. Honestly. And, now this system is even worse.. and punishes further the more you push to the cap. So, I ask myself, why push for the cap if it means nothing next season?
How about giving us more Darkness Subclasses we been asking for?
Vault Space?
Prismatic Fragments?
More Spirit Class Item Rolls?
You know the true Quality of Life stuff?

I've decided that I will play this through to Renegades, simply cause I already paid for it, so why not I've also decided that a good set of T3 gear this time around is my mark and for Renegades push for T4 depending on if anything changes, then probably that will be the one to exit on. I'll collect my lightsaber and be good. After Renegades, let the streamers stream to basically no one at that point.

I agree reset back to 200, seeing how gruelling the grind is, bad move.

This power grind is pointless as every activity has its own power delta or power is disabled, it is there solely to power gate the T5 gear, but what is the point now of assembling a whole new set of gear when there are no new activities to use it in? All dressed up and nowhere to go. 🤷

Throw in all these limited timed events with exclusive gear and it can get a bit overwhelming for the average player.

They literally cannot be convinced its poor, because they're totally brainwashed by what they're used to. Now, I don't wanna see that same crap in destiny, and if they stick with it, they'll have invented yet another reason for people not to play this game. I'm so sick of Bungies mishandling of this should be great game, I feel like if I was bloody rich enough I'd buy it off them just to save it. Imagine having the best feeling to play game ever and not knowing what to do with it. IT SHOULD BE AGAINST THE DAMN LAW. People have been invested for years, they actually care. Why don't Bungie? It makes me so mad.

Time is the one thing ALL of us have a finite source of. If you think spending it getting something intangible, with arbitrary numbers is the best use of the time you have, hats off to you. However, I can't help but feel that, some time in the future, it might be a decision many will regret.

Investing 100s of hours into getting tier 5 only for it to be all undone is so demoralising…. Reality is next reset people will still be grinding the same activities they have been for years… surely that will get boring at some point

1 ReplyI would really like Bungie explain why we need power resets to me and most of the playing community makes no sense. There are so many ways they could create a new focus each time there is a new expansion, such as new missions, new environments etc..

I dont mind the reset for new gear. But a change in grinding has to happen. Also, older gear like craftable weapons and enhancable weapons should have some sort of tier system as well to keep up with this current system. So we all dont feel like we have played for nothing in the past.

They pretty much killed any motivation I may have had to level up my gear, from the beginning of the expansion. Then come Renegades, you are brought back down to 200 and have try to get back to the power taken from you. Why? A lightsaber is only motivation to swing around a lightsaber. It doesn't make me want to grind it all back.

We've had power resets every year since shadowkeep. This time we get pulled down to a floor instead of the floor being raised to us. It's literally the same outcome.

1 ReplyStop playing at 200, take a break, play something else then come back at the next drop without having lost all you did and taken back down to …200. Then, presumably, you get to play all the way up to 450? Think if we did that, Bungie might notice……..and Panic somewhat?

Since d1 i always knew light level was the worst thing they added tier 5 drops should be just rare as exotics were in d1 that would make it more fun ,but having re grind every few month buck up to light level 500 what's the point even playing this game ohhh well some people gonna still buy bungies dlc and cry on app just stop playing it and stop paying for it They dont care about players all they wnt is more streams by youtubers more market thats all

I find it so annoying how all power does is lock us out of content. If I’m good enough to complete a GM, I should just play it and beat it. I shouldn’t have to grind an arbitrary number just so I can have permission to play it.

Honestly it would be fine if it 350 instead of 200. Or if they made the grind not take 10 times longer than every other expansion.

You see gear adds to your multiplier and impacts the quality of your drops. So, if you have Tier 3, 4, 5.... Wearing it will make the progression better. So, if you decide to play content that required Avante' Guard... your new sets will come easier. And even if you don't, leveling from 200 will get easier. Thems the deets. 😇👍💠
