Guys… I really really wanna keep playing destiny- however, with the current state- it’s increasing difficult to play for more than 30 mins. Rewards for most activities are dog -blam!- unless you’re already at 400 or near. Trials is in ruins, crucible is more broken than ever. Strikes are fine- don’t change them- however higher difficulty NEEDS better rewards. Bring back vendor ranks and reward tracks- everything feels pointless now and I don’t get the same YESS feeling from hitting rank 16 twice. Xur feels a little bland now- Bungie- you’re slowly killing your player base- sure events may bring back players for a few weeks but after that- there’s nothing to do- no seasonal story, no new activities. Just updated activities from 7 years ago. Free roam is boring asfk, no new public events, no lost sectors on Kepler. Public event rewards might as well just be an achievement saying “wow! You wasted your time.” Don’t get me wrong- I LOVED the new dlc- but many refused to buy it before and even now now, due to the lack Of real care for the community. You may be transparent about what’s happening but you’re not transparent about real issues in destiny and some are going entirely unnoticed even tho many people are complaining and giving points and views. You’ve made this community and now you’re killing it too. Bring the episodes back. Bring vendor ranks back. Give better rewards. Fix issues LIKE THE ENTIRE CRUCIBLE. And fix trials- trials was better before edge of fate. I’m fine with grind- I play Warframe- but this is a chore. Playing destiny feels like having adhd- I want to do it- but now I can barely get myself to.

I’m enjoying it. Maybe because I don’t spend much time in crucible.🤷♀️

I agree it is dying that should call destiny the DEMISE OF THE FRANCHISE

Yeah seeing all these posts it’s clear that nobody’s a fan of rewards blocked by unrealistic power grind. I started at end of final shape. As a new player I hated the grind I just wanted to do main content and thankfully half way through the 9 gave a gift to get top power level. I looked forward to the level playing field of edge of fate but this was flawed thinking. I can’t catch up without unrealistic amount of grinding and am way behind on exotics and legendaries for builds. Games hard enough on new players this is just too much. I liked the explorer modes etc to help me get familiar with content. Now there’s none of that and it’s grind the portal with nothing else giving over 200 power. It’s not fun who in there right mind thought this was a good idea? We need way less grind and more content. Especially content for new players. Bring the explorer modes back so we can get familiar with all the dungeons you had us pay for just to look like idiots for our first runs ffs. If any bungie employees responsible for the grind happen to read this….. I’m giving you the middle finger!

Sad but true… not even the most fervent bungie fan boys can deny it anymore

The two buddies I have left playing this game and I are actually having fun. We didn’t mind being reset back to 10 power and grinding forward. Granted we are in our 40s and have families and don’t get to play very much but it has been nice.10 years ago I used to pour a lot of time into this game but I just don’t have time like that anymore. Probably for the better but as for me in a couple of buddies we are enjoying it.

The game may be dying, but the player population is alive and stable. View the Steam charts. Many of the players who left a year ago returned this Summer. https://steamcharts.com/app/1085660#All Now, do not misunderstand my post. I left the game a few months ago, too. There is no way that I would play the current trash content. The changes in EoF are so bad that I expect to never return. I only want to see how D2 ends someday.

This is the first DLC or expansion in the history of Destiny, that I did not purchase. I waited to see reviews. I regretted the last two I purchased. The game kept wandering farther and farther away from something I could sit down and escape with, for a few hours by myself. Forcing my hand to LFG, or to use a sidearm as the ONLY option for a champion archetype, did it for me.
-
I really wish I could get back into this game. I prepped hard for EoF so I could catch up. But I just can't. This isn't Destiny anymore. On the other hand, Battlefield 6 is starting to look real good.

Playing destiny feels like having adhd- I want to do it- but now I can barely get myself to.
The clickbait title doesn't match the tone of the post. I don't agree with everything you say but I certainly can't argue that you don't make valid points. I think most would agree that pre-EoF Destiny was badly in need of some changes. And Bungie made a lot of changes. I think some seem good and some seem bad and for some it's too soon to call. They're trying a ton of things and I think for a lot of them the verdicts going to be out until after the initial tweaking phase. I agree Kepler is lacking. Pvp is tragic. I don't think most of us understand the Portal system in depth so we're not getting the most out of it. Modifier systems for gameplay, difficulty, and rewards are more complex and may allow players to influence basic game mechanics more than ever before. Regrettably, Bungie seems to have left any through explanations of the hows and whys up to content providers. I see the potential - tons of customization and variety - but much of it is locked behind power level. And that means The Grind. Progress seems more predictable and controllable but the number is just so huge it feels way slower. And it's frustrating that it matters in so many ways. Just tweaking the power level system would go a long way to lessen complaints. And rethinking the looming expansion reset would be a good place to start. I've got to say though that I'm enjoying playing. I'm not rushing. I'm not going to let fomo or the grind ruin the game for me. I try to just laugh off pvp. I understand why some players are pissed. I think there's a lot of overreacting though. I hope the games not dying. I've loved it for a long time. And I still do.

Look on the bright side. With EoF this is the worst Destiny 2 has ever been. Things can only get better......maybe 😆
-
Still having a great time. The best new content, probably not. Grind a bit long, yes. At least they are trying new things. People complain when nothing changes, then they complain when it does. This community just really likes to complain.

Personally I'm tired of them trying to force PvP on those of us who don't like to PvP... can't get the Solstice title without it, and it was the same for Arms Week.

Edited by jmann43b: 8/4/2025 9:38:56 PMI know nothing of the sort. The only thing I do know about the game is that plenty of people clearly want it to die.

To be honest I didn't pay for Edge of Fate. A mate who wanted to play bought it for me and we played for a while. I did the campaigns with him but we are both playing other games now. I haven't done any of the stuff on Kepler. My highest character is only 264 and I really can't be bothered with the game much. I did both passages in Trials over the weekend and got lots of rubbish armour, multiple copies of the hand cannon and machine gun, and for getting 7 wins I got a machine gun that I already had fiveof, a golf ball and an enhancement core. Yeah, thanks. That was worth it. The game is a shallow chore. I logged in just now and went to do the Inverted Spire Bonus Focus. Only two of us started it and it took five minutes for a third player to turn up. Player numbers are clearly dropping. I turned it off halfway through because it's just a waste of time. Endless mobs of overpowered enemies, rubbish loot and you are underpowered in everything. This game is just tedious and annoying now. I did laugh when I saw that their idea for new Portal content was Dungeon encounters. You can go play any Dungeon encounters you want, right now. That's their big idea. Filling the Portal with stuff from other activities. I'll have a look at Ash and Iron but not expecting much when all we get for Solstice are modifiers. Bungie deserve everything that's coming.

I am now at 401 PL. I would say the journey is quite unpleasant. I am wondering D2 is still a game or just a chore. I am relieved that I could do other stuff but there aren't any tangible rewards in Kepler. AR, MG and exotic HC. That is. The set is niche and bad as new gears and weapons requirement for portal activities are very restrictive. GL and RL, where? Prime engram drop rate is very bad. The grind will be 10x harder than 200-400. Just as well wait for A&I. You are only allowed to rank up one class as the infusion cost after 400 is very prohibitive. I only using 3 weapons and Techsec from start till now. Class happens to be Titan. The other two can rot at tower. I don't know what is their game plan. As of now, it feels very haphazard and unfun. I am now able to play casually and maybe play other games. D2 at its current state is very bad. It seems that Bungie is trolling the player base hard. Enemies health, bad mods like hypothetical and small and slow put in the playlist with plenty of brigs is definitely trolling. At least I can look forward to solstice. Hopefully, it has something to offer.

I mean a decade and the community grew up Youngest are like 25, oldest around 40

It's a soy based product. Do not consume.

I am sure the BDF will come on here and say this forum does not represent the community, but if you go on reddit, X or even read the comments on streamer vids you will see the same sentiments, players are very unhappy with a lot of these changes, the meaningless power grind, the limited portal activities, and I am sure soon enough we can add the butchering of annual events such as solstice to that list.

You and your cat isn't the whole community.

First expansion I didn't buy, and just can't validate it for the money. I've been active since the last year of D1, and now I also have a tough time enjoying the game anymore after about 30 minutes. Some system changes and a new story, but the core game remains unchanged (just re-skinned difficulty), which is why I think Edge of Fate was DOA. Really unfortunate since I've enjoyed it for so long, and I'll probably hop on periodically for a little PVP, but time to find something else!
-
I waited to buy the EOF this time as I wasn't sure It was going in a good direction. I'm glad of my decision reading all the comments. Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed these past few years, maybe I'll come back one day if things are better. However for now I have a huge back catalogue of games that I've not got round to as destiny has taken up any game time I had. Just started God Of War for first time and it's awesome.

I haven't played in a few years, and came back a couple weeks ago. While the game has its issues, I enjoy the gameplay. I haven't messed with competitive or trials yet. Have run into some players in crucible that slide and glitch all over the place, they usually run in near full groups. Nearly unkillable.

Finishing my reward pass then taking a well deserved break just in time for metal gear 😁

Any motivation I had to play disappeared after the first Edge of Fate mission and seeing what had been done to the rest of the game. -
The game will only die if players STOP buying and supporting it. All this complaining, yet ppl keep spending their money. If you want change, BE the change. Bungie wont take the community seriously if the community aint serious.
