Thoughts on arms week: It was fine. Not bad. Plentiful loot.

I have mixed feelings on Arms Week, mostly because Hand Cannons are not my preference of weapons, and I'm kind of lousy at PVP. That said, I did use Hand Cannons more this week than in the last year, so by that measure I'd say the event was a success; I also did three or four rounds of Arms Master (or whatever it's called) in PVP. As I said above, I'm not into PVP, but I do think the mode is novel, and I imagine actual PVPers had a lot more fun with the mode than I did. The loot quantity seemed good, though! Like I could grind as many Engrams as I wanted, and one Engram per event gave me enough to get some good rolls. The Loot model felt pretty good. Also shout out to whoever programmed the Volatile Mods, those things were a ton of fun to play with, I hope we get additional mods in future Arms Weeks, they added a lot of variety to a weapon type I generally don't use much, and that was neat. So why am I calling it just "Fine" when I have mostly good things to say? I guess because I don't enjoy being shoehorned into using a particular weapon or weapon type, and there's already a lot of that going on in this Expansion pack. A possible solution might be just to feature more than one weapon type at a time, if that's possible; Hand Cannons AND Side Arms would have opened up my choices a lot more, just as an example. I think Bungie got a lot of Arms Week right; the loot, the mods, the daily quests, the new mode, it was a quiet but productive little event. I look forward to Swords Week, or Glaives Week, but I think a lot of player's enjoyment is going to come down to how much they enjoy the actual weapon type. I'm hopeful Bungie will continue to iterate on what works, and branch out to more weapons and bigger things. It was also nice talking to a vendor again, nostalgic. Four stars out of five, would recommend.
