We have been playing together and at only 240 power have already hit a point where they are only 220 while I am 240. The gap simply continues to grow.
We do not even have the same bonus drops on the same missions. It is all random and with nothing to bring others up to the highest power in the fireteam anymore, it is separating people.
It is truly disgusting what you have done to this game.
It seems that you really would like for it to die in the most painful way possible.

So disappointed in what they did to the loot system… absolutely will destroy this game

Bungie: (ignoring mistakes and avoiding them during TWIDs) ......... Have you seen the new items in the store? And arms week? 😎 Week after that Solstice!!! 😄

It is fun when you can play with a friend. Old methods worked well where you shared XP and would quickly bring them up to your light level. Now bonus’s and level latches are unpublished and unpredictable. LFG is no substitute especially when it is working half the time for campaigns. It is nice that matchmaking can be super fast, but it forces you to leave early potentially not getting the competition…. Too many bugs.
-
It’s a huge pain in the -blam!- in its current format. I always make sure whoever is the highest light level is the fireteam leader and it makes life a bit easier to set an A score. Since the power leader thing still works in most stuff, I can still play with the power disparity but the system is still confusing. Last night I did back to back Starcrossed missions. I got two marginally better drops in the first run that was a breeze to get an A rating. The second run I had to increase the enemies +30 more and add the no starting ammo modifier in order to barely get an A for the second run. It took way longer and didn’t even drop the pulse…. Same fireteam and everything, but the score calculator didn’t make sense. I don’t know wtf I’m missing.

So one of you is intentionally leaving the other one behind and its bungies fault. One of you wont sacrifice a few hours to make the other stronger... That dont sound like a great relationship

Edited by Lakeshow_Prime: 8/5/2025 2:26:10 AMA couple of easy (I think) things Bungie should do to at least help this a little: 1. Focus and extra drops should default to the fireteam leader. That way everyone can share the increased loot. Should help promote playing in fireteams. 2. Ease up on the speed run and slay out. Gotta do both to get the loot score, but this discourages build diversity and competing against teammates for kills always sucks. Not looking to get carried, but there's gotta be a little more leeway.

There's definitely something weird going on with the rewards if you have players of differing LL in the Fireteam Ops. My brother, and friend and I tried going for a B+ reward for all 3 of us and even with ridiculous juggling of modifiers and armor we still couldn't get things to land right.
-
It does bring up power level only on certain activities it doesn’t because of some modifier. I did a gm a few days ago and it brought up my clan mates power

It's because they aren't making a game for us to play, they think they're clever, and they made a business venture that they're trying to cleverly take people's money whilst trying to seem genuine. Bunch of numpties the lot of em. Horrible office dwellers with no feelings, that's what they are.

I’m 400 dang can play with 200 friends. They get brought up to light. Fake news
-
Completely agree - it's bonkers how when you team with friends/fam or clan mates, it's rare that everyone has more than 1 Fireteam Ops mission with bonus loot. I shouldn't feel like I need to frequently LFG in order to best power up.
-
Noticed the same thing I have a friend we have played since beta and now done of ours match up
-
You do know that's not how it works right? It drags your spouse up to 5 level of light of you, they will automatically get a rating to whatever you set because their light is lower and will get +3 drops like normal so while they remain behind, they still steadily increase and are still able to play with you.
-
The solo grind is simply the fastest way to level and this is breaking fireteams. I think the solo playlist was a good idea but I think if Bungie acts to make team play more attractive it will yet again make the wrong choice. Boosting the rewards available in the longer, more team focused activities would be the thing to do. Let's see how hard they nerf the solo play rewards instead.
-
Same goes for my clan. We often cant help each other because of the disparity in our power levels. It feels so bad to say "sorry cant play with you" to all my friends. Making everybody play solo ops only. I have never played so much solo destiny in my entiere life. And its saddening because its not even a choice

Edited by NerdslayerNo1: 8/5/2025 4:02:35 AMBungie is trying to destroy marriages!!! But seriously, yeah, I think this is too bad. One thing that's stuck in my head as someone that essentially stopped playing for two years (and many times before that) and kinda only played a little for onslaught is. When i log into the game now, as a returning player I have no clue what to do. And I know enough about the game to know i don't want to waste time, more so now with the long level grind. Now full disclosure, i'm not intending to do that, but i think about returning players and new players and how the game with portal sort of feels confusing and directionless. I can 100% imagine people returning and going, "nah it's all too convoluted with levels, and how to get certain armor tiers, now my i need what guardian rank, how do i rank, and now my old gear might be obsolete. I just want to plays control and have it matter. No thanks bye." And then they can't play with their spouses either.

I guess staying as a fireteam was not part of your vows?
Ill let myself out

😎😂
-
**ahem**....you are trying to play the wrong game with your spouse....LOL ;)
-
Imagine trying to make a game more friendly to solo players ending up causing everyone to become solo players 🤨
-
I'm at 285, and I can't even play with my clan because all their rewards will be tier 2. Seriously, what a dumb system.
-
Another highly important tidbit is to remember to collect all rewards AFTER you reach 400. Prime and exotic engrams are tiered rewards that should only be collected when you reach 400 so that the grind to 450 isn’t as daunting.
-
Given the general feedback I would not be surprised if we start to see improvement in the next weekly updates.
-
FYI - You need to host the mission in order to play together to ensure she's getting max'd rewards. For example - Even if you're showing B+ for example to ensure you're getting +4 pinnacle; she will also be getting +4 even though it may show as C tier for her. This assumes she's wearing infused max level armor. It's not very intuitive; but there is nothing stopping you from leveling with your S.O efficiently. If she' hosts though and set something up and showed A tier - you may never get maximum possible forward for you which is why it's imperitive that the highest power member host.
