Low Gravity - Are You Serious??!!!

What brain trust came up with this garbage modifier?? How did that presentation go? Let's take a game that we already force players to perform some pretty rigid jumping mechanics to succeed in and then make it completely impossible, because they won't ever be able to land where they need to. Get rid of this trash already...😡😡🤦

I get what they were thinking: In-game gravity is a lever Bungie can pull to make for a more interesting experience, that's the thought that they were thinking. That said, one of Destiny 2's strongest assets has always been its movement and responsiveness, D2 has always been a game that feels good to play, it's a game that won me over with its fast paced hero moments, and low gravity throws that responsiveness out the window. Low gravity is novel, I'll give Bungie that, but it's also frustrating. The enemies, banes, and general difficulty of much of the content requires us to be fast on our feet, and Low grav slows that way, way down. It feels like driving over speed bumps and potholes on a race track, and most of the time I end up trying to avoid jumping altogether (which was maybe the point?) It's not a modifier that makes the game more fun to play, in my experience, Low grav removes one of D2's strongest assets, its responsiveness, and ends up making us slowly floating bullet magnets. If we had more control, or the enemies were less adept, maybe I'd have a different opinion, but right now Low grav is just frustrating most of the time. I get what Bungie was going for, I understand why they pulled that lever, it makes sense on paper, maybe it was even fun a time or two during play testing, but in practice it feels like slowly pulling teeth. Bungie: Maybe turn the effect down by half and see if the complaints don't go down by half, too. If you're set on having the mode in the game, tune it a little bit, try to find a sweeter spot between fun and frustrating. The idea isn't wholly without merit, assuming there's a commensurate reward for the modifier, but the execution needs some work.
