Thoughts on arms week: It was fine. Not bad. Plentiful loot.

I have mixed feelings on Arms Week, mostly because Hand Cannons are not my preference of weapons, and I'm kind of lousy at PVP. That said, I did use Hand Cannons more this week than in the last year, so by that measure I'd say the event was a success; I also did three or four rounds of Arms Master (or whatever it's called) in PVP. As I said above, I'm not into PVP, but I do think the mode is novel, and I imagine actual PVPers had a lot more fun with the mode than I did. The loot quantity seemed good, though! Like I could grind as many Engrams as I wanted, and one Engram per event gave me enough to get some good rolls. The Loot model felt pretty good. Also shout out to whoever programmed the Volatile Mods, those things were a ton of fun to play with, I hope we get additional mods in future Arms Weeks, they added a lot of variety to a weapon type I generally don't use much, and that was neat. So why am I calling it just "Fine" when I have mostly good things to say? I guess because I don't enjoy being shoehorned into using a particular weapon or weapon type, and there's already a lot of that going on in this Expansion pack. A possible solution might be just to feature more than one weapon type at a time, if that's possible; Hand Cannons AND Side Arms would have opened up my choices a lot more, just as an example. I think Bungie got a lot of Arms Week right; the loot, the mods, the daily quests, the new mode, it was a quiet but productive little event. I look forward to Swords Week, or Glaives Week, but I think a lot of player's enjoyment is going to come down to how much they enjoy the actual weapon type. I'm hopeful Bungie will continue to iterate on what works, and branch out to more weapons and bigger things. It was also nice talking to a vendor again, nostalgic. Four stars out of five, would recommend.

  • Chaotic munitions was all I needed. It does some crazy things in game that really makes it a lot of fun to use. I put it on my lunas howl with subsistence and incandescent. Basically turns a legendary into the craziest exotic in the game.

Having to spend the event currency to decode the engrams and not making the other hand cannons offered during the event new gear was peak BUNGO crap design. It's like if one team that was making the event didn't know what the other team that was making the new loot system found a way to soft sunset everything that ins't from this expansion. This event was mid as you can get, and I'm being generous.

    • I enjoyed it, somebody was rocking chaotic ammunition in a PvP match and I picked up a solar scythe that they dropped and I took out two guardians with the ground slam attack. It was awesome, they did not see it coming hahahaha

    • I didn’t hate it, but it was too early in the season to put something in that hinged on guardian rank for better rewards. For a one week event, they could have just had everything drop at a minimum tier 3. Everybody having a tier 3 hand cannon and trace rifle wouldn’t have been game breaking. I liked the mods and the amount of loot, but I think the quality of loot could be reasonably increased for all who couldn’t grind dozens of hours in the first couple weeks of launch.

      • I got scammed out of 200 silver. I will never financially recover from it.

          • I understand why they didnt mark all the old HCs as "new gear" but not doing so made that whole function of the event effectivly pointless outside of pvp, so that's a miss in my book. Maybe give us more than one or 2 new things to chase next time.
