So much for play your way
Forcing players into specific gear sets and loadouts for no good reason is just awful for the game. The Avant Garde modifier is probably the most egregious example of this issue. It feels bad when you have a great loadout and the game says, "nope, can't use that here, because your exotic armor is not the one we want you to use." Did anyone at Bungie honestly think this was a good idea? Sheesh.

bungie probably doesn't understand how helpful letting us play however we want actually is.. and if they do, they probably just wanna make the experience more miserable! I'd be fine if it was only locked gear, but that avant garde thing really busts my kneecaps
